That's a cool idea. Something went wrong with the project file (glitch or my error, I'm not sure), so it will take some time to reset everything up. I'll try to get around to it in a couple of weeks once winter break starts. --Ross

Nice job, yeah, when can I check back for boxman vs. fridge 2? Keep up the good work!

Great work! Its fun watching this bot come together.

Nice penguins!

Thanks Rodney! Oh gosh... sounds terrible

I definitely agree... I think there might be a reason that this ride doesn't exist in real-life (I hope)

A friend of mine has to give a presentation on an amusement park ride that he designed. I offered to make a short video showing the ride in action. Here it is! ~7mB Its been fun spending some time messing around with AM again. --Ross

Fantastic! Thats all I have to say I guess... really all I can ever say when I see your work

Awesome Dhar! I agree with Gerry on all those compliments. It was amazing the emotional depth you got out of the usually comedic shaggy character. I bet a lot of other people have probably mentioned it, too, but you did an excellent job on making the music "live". Good work!

This is just a guess, but I'm going to say yes

I've been experimenting with sweeper a little bit since I'm planning on making a lot of the penguin's environment with sweeper. Here's a not-serving-any-purpose-really image I put together to practice using sweeper.

I'm working on a scene right now and am trying to get a dark fog sort of thing at the bottom of the scene, however when I use the mist volumentric I seem to only be able to make fog thats bright... There is no light hitting the fog, but it renders as a bright splotch. I put the brightness down in the mist settings and then the fog just disappears. Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't get a dark fog.... it either is bright or isn't there at all. Any help would be great, thanks, --Ross

Nice job Glen!

Ah, k, thanks. Here's a slightly updated waddle walk2.mov
-
? I'm a bit confused Anyways, here is a simple little walk/waddle for the penguin. Next I'm planning on doing some smart skin things. walk.mov

haha, thanks. ... and I don't know anything about penguins taking over the world... but here my newest render is
-
Yep, looked kiwi birds up on google images... and you're definately right about the beak. As for the walk I was thinking about a very waddling-like motion... I'll try making a walk cycle later tonight to see how it works out, then edit the feet as necessary. Thanks for the help!

Haha, like the dwarf planet render As I understand it (and I may be wrong) pluto is classified as a dwarf planet because it hasn't cleared its path of other objects (in this case being neptune)? And if that is the case, wouldn't neptune be demoted also?

Any suggestions for fixing the ends of the feet? I'm getting this little blip on the end of them. Thanks, --Ross

Thanks for the comments and suggestions! Yeah, the eyes were just placeholders so I didn't have a creepy eyeless penguin

Penguins have always been a favorite animal of mine. Perhaps it because they look like they are dressed in formal wear, or maybe it is just that they are physically unable to steal my french fries (unlike one of my least favorite animals: seagulls). Either way, the other day I drew some penguins for a comic (here if you're interested) which got me thinking about penguins once again. So I've decided to try making a basic model of a penguin... mainly because I'm not good enough to make a non-basic model Attached is the 1st step... plan of attack is adding some feet, shaping the head a bit, shaping the rest of the body slightly, fixing the eyes, possibly adding some feathery eyebrows, decaling, then rigging.

Wow, I love it! What's really interesting is to load each of those images in its own seperate tab (if you're in firefox, safari, etc) and then cycle through them... its really cool seeing the changes made between each iteration. Excellent job once again!
