  1. Well, I've continued to tweak and play with the blanket. Maybe I was having a bad day, maybe the sun was to close to venus, who knows, but it's coming along pretty good now. We definitly cannot use simcloth for this. I densed the mesh a bit and added more bones and the overall effect is much better.

    Hi Lloyd

Have you been able to upload what you have to SVN yet I am back from the cottage and wondering if there is anything for me to play with yet?

  2. Great tip Mark.

If 'Not knowing what I'm doing' is an animation asset then... watchout! I'm gonna be a star right up there in the heavens with you. :P

before I went (aorund 3am  ) to bed I started a final render and now I see I need to tweak the fianal position of the hat check out the mirror

    2_01_06_take1final.mov

  3. That's kinda what I had in mind. Simcloth is still difficult to control so allow me to play around with it a bit more. Thanks for the feedback. Well try your approach and see how it goes. I'll set the blanket rig up today and send you the files as soon as I get them done.

Great I am away again this weekend and I have other scenes to work on so let me know when we have something a can test.

I normally/always commit these at the end of the day as a back up so you can play around and test it as well if you would like in my take1 chor just let me know ok

  4. I updated my svn and have been playing with the action of scarecrow getting out of bed. My question is weather scarecrow will have the blanket draped over his legs? I see that there is no animation for him actually throwing the blanket off. Should I give the blanket an animation based on whats already in place and then allow you Mark to modify your existing action of Scarecrow to match or should we simply have Scarecrow scoot outta bed and kinda let the blanket fall where it will? By going with the second we simply need to add a deflector material to Scarecrow's legs and lower torso. By having Scarecrow throw the blanket off I'll need to setup a rig of sorts coupled with simcloth. Let me know what you think.

P.S. It feels so good to be working on this again. :P

My thoughts on this scene and I have attached rough animation is he puts book down with his right hand while his left reaches over to the table side of the blanket then I was thinging of constraining his hand to a bone at this corner top near table and having his left hand move blanket off his legs but maybe still over his left foot then he scutts off pillow into a scought postion then starts to rotate clockwise then end of scene. if we have one bone in the corner and have simcloth on blanket and reflector on scarcrow lowere body and maybe bed? this might work.

I would then animate it if you create an action of hte blanket moving then I match it or alter your action to match my animation that might be more work? What do you think?

I would like to rotate the pillows about 70 -80 degrees to the head board not lying flat down on bed.

  5. I am not very experienced so I may be totally wrong but if you can you not set the chor range of the action to start so many postive keyframes into the action so the action starts where you want and ends were you want then repeats? So you want a contuning action in the action make two loops of what you want then in chor start action 1/2 into action then to end then you get a action that does not start from beginning of motion but were you want? we are starting all animation and renderer at 4.04 (100 frames) to have dynamics settle down you should be able to do this simarliar thing

    or

in an action maybe you can copy or delete hte the beginning of the action so it starts were you want. Like I said inexperienced but just a secggestion

  6. Wow Mark. You really animated that one quickly!

    Reveal your secrets!

It's sure to come in handy elsewhere for others.

When you have no idea what you are doing you don't have to worry about meshing it up you just do

Just don't ask me to do it again  it would probably take me 10 trys

  7. Thanks Mark, the pace looks fine.

Here's where I throw a wrench in the works: I'd like Scarecrow to pick his hat up off the table and put it on as he walks past. There's no need for him to stop or interrupt his walk, he can do it as he passes.

Commit your current .cho for this shot in case we need to come back to it. Talk with me if you want more direction.

Thanks again, Mark. I love seeing updates!

    Rhett

Ok which table is the hat going to be on the sink table? he is too far to reach it from this walk? I was wondering if you wanted the end table were I put the book down but that's scene 4 how about a coat rack but that would have to be in the middle of the room? I will talk to you before I start this I have my family here so I might not be around as much tell wednesday night late then right back into animating.

  8. Unfortunately Ilidrake has had to leave the project he was working on a blanket for scarecrows bed. We wanted scarecrow to remove the blanket as he gets out of bed. Does anyone want to take over the creation of a blanket so we can carry on as planed PLEASE. I will attach a test render Ilidrake sent me showing me what he had in mind

Lloyd is BACK and is on the job with the Blanket :D

  9. Hurry ha thanks to Nancy I now have a book and I dissagree with her saying it is primitive and can be used as a proxie. I think it's great as is and fits nicley with the other books in this set. Me might just want to texture the cover that is all. Take a look at it people and see if you agree?

    hand_test.mov

  10. I have a very primitive book that I did in ver 8.5 - perhaps you can use it as a proxy - it has a pose to flip one page and close the book - but you can just use the bones - remember - I said it was PRIMITIVE.

Thankyou Nancy that well work well I knew there must be something out there already made :) and for this shot I think we would just have to redo the cover to make it look old which is great! I will try it out and post WIP

Ok I am starting to think I can use this book as is? check this out

  11. What's happening in my scene:

Woot is listening to the Tin Woodman talk about Nimee Amee...he then turns his head and has a hopeful expression (this is right before he offers to accompany the Tin Man on his journey)

Alright....I was going to wait until I got this scene down really good until I posted it, but then I realized that that was dumb reasoning and it would be more efficient if I just conquered me nerves and posted it to get advice.

I know what I have so far is definitely not where I want it...

and I'm very very open to opinions and critiques...in fact I really need/want them :)

I think I might need to add in a second blink, maybe towards the very beginning of the shot. I also know that Woot's left hand fingers are not in the right positions. (I remember somebody at the hash bash demonstrating a hand thing that you could adjust, so the fingers don't curl at the same time. It seems to me that the control for that is in use in this shot, but I can't seem to remember where the control is so that I can adjust it properly). As I'm also super new to animation getting use to the timing is difficult, so I'm sure my timing is probably off in this shot too. (I don't like how I have his arms coming up...I know you aren't supposed to have things like that move at the same time...so I'll have to play with that part). His grin at the end is a little cheesy....hmm might have to rethink a hopeful look...

I also had some difficulty rendering it out... I had the hair turned off in my chor in order for it to render out faster, but it rendered the hair anyways..

Oh gosh, I really don't want to post this, cause I know it's bad....but here it is....(insert emoticon biting finger nails)[attachmentid=20068]

Any helpful pointers will be greatly appreciated :)

I like the facial expression and Stuart is right when his head goes dowm rotate the hips forward one notch or 5 DEG. and chest and head too then rotate it opposite so two notches back when his head goes back and the chest and hips.

the hand control is called Steve hand gizmo and by default I think it is turned off go to frame zero and view pose sliders hand hand controls open it then steve's hand gismo and slide it to 100% and then a large bone appears beyound hand bone select it hit r for rotation the play with it. When you render out or before you render out do shift 8 to turn hair off and start rendering at 4.04 if this was setup by rhett and if you started animating from 4.04 that is tell the end.

Now don't be so hard on your self this is a GOOD start and now we can help you

Now do the changes that Stuart and I suggest and re -render it and post again snap to it drill sargent Martin is wathing and waiting LOL

  12. Rough take1 this is not a cycle I am animating it just have hips particle done and feet just looking for the right speed Rhett this is within a couple of key frames to what you had for me just wanted to see if thsi looks right to you. Opinions are always welcome as well from others

    2_01_06_take1.mov

  13. I'm not sure which scene this is, but:

Either the camera angle needs to change or tinman needs something under his chin.

What's attached to the axe at the end?

Animation wise, the timing seems ok. It all seems abit floaty and indecisive though. Such as in the beginning, his arms slowly move down over a few seconds to his side. That's not how arms tend to move.

John is using proxie models so nothing to worry about Ken sorry missed John's post

  14. Wow, that definitely feels like you have the timing and basic motion down! It seems like you just have to add the secondary motion to the ax when it lands, then it's "done." It will be interesting to watch how many more revisions you will need to make before the shot is really "done."

See Martin I recruit only the best LOL or should I say re recruit

  15. Hi guys!

I am back on the two project. Rhett sent me this scene to mess up and I am messing it up real good.

I have about 4 hours into it, I havent done anything outside of the keys that Rhett had set up.

the curves are still a mess this is still very rough and not much for fingers and hands.

Let me know if you think i am on the right track!!!

    I really like this

I like it the only thing I think is a little more cushion when the axe lands on his foot you have it but maybe just a little more perhaps add a few more frames to that part

  16. Ok Rhett explained about we are starting animating on frame 100 or 4.04 for the dynamics to settle down and I understand that and I am changing my stuff as I work on so I set start range at 4.04 and end at the end and adjust project work space so it fits my screen. Ok everthing is fine but is there a way of locking the screen show it does not go back beyound frame 4.04 I am scrubbing through and when I scrub back I always go to far then I have to set it all back?

  17. Cool Mark. You may be able to avoid a lot of the penetration/extension issues with his arms if Scarecrow scoots his butt forward instead of carrying his upper body. I can't tell you a frame range but there's only one "scoot" in that shot...

    You mean like this?

    2_01_04_Take_1.mov

  18. Ok I am confused four posts up you say your computer does not like ver 13?

"Hmmm....too bad i cant help.......it might be interesting....but my computer doesent like version 13.....and i mean it REALLY doesent like it........lol.......anyways....good luck all......"

If so post a report and it will probably get fixed.

Then here you are asking how much ver 13 cost?

So how much is the version 13 cd?

So do you have ver 13 or not? and if not how would you know your system would not handle it?

  19. Hi Dhar

I really like what you have here and the one thing I would like to add is rotating the hips when they pickup there feet so the foot that goes up hte hip rotates up as well then down when that foot goes down.

  20. Rhett,

Sorry it's taking so long, but things have been crazy at work, since I got back from vacation three weeks ago. I hate it when they expect me to work at work. It leaves little time for animating at work.:) But anyway, I added 15 frames to the shot, and will update SVN asap, I'll be sure to change the log in Dot Project when I do. BTW, the finger controls (hand gizmo to be specific) have quit working in both Tin Servant and Woot proxies. Is this due to an update in the models maybe? Has anyone else come across this? I hate to update the chor without the fingers working. Should I go ahead and update, or wait til I get the fingers done?

    Cory

I report a refresh problem in ver f and it is fixed in g ? fore steve hand gismo do you have g? or F?
