  1. Ok to fill everone in Rhett has broken this scene up into smaller more manageable smaller scenes with differnent camera angles. I posted in models/prop section for a book that I can have scare crow open and close. I am thinking a really old hard cover and I beat there is probably one out there already does anyone know or want to create it?

Any ways just a rough take 1 to see if I understand Rhett lnstructions

  2. I am thinking of an old worn hard cover with one page rigged so scarecrow can open and close book. I have WIP in Animating section will attach link after I make the thread. I am wondering if someone might have something or know of something already made? Any takers?

  3. This shot is like a title that says "Next morning, 6:00 AM" except it does it visually.

I think Bob "grizzled animation veteran" Taylor guaged it right when he made it short. Lingering on it diminishes it's impact.

I am agreeing with you although the wave file starts right with the crowing I have not time for anticapation and ends with crowing so no over lapping I have given myself 10 frames at the beginning and 10 at the end and have done two test shaded renders. The aniamtion would have to be alter greatly (No Problem) this is intended as a quick test to get the feel. What are your thoughts?

The 2nd is more like BT's antmatic for camera angle

  4. Whoa! Tin servant was under the sunbed abit too long.

The left fingers are good on the first frame but then they go straight again. The right fingers do it abit too. Fingers very rarely do that naturally. This is a real pet hate of mine. When ever I see it I think if the animator can't be bothered to do the basics right then why should I bother watching it....sort of thing. So, it's nothing personal.

The fingers on the right hand actually seem crooked. Are you using Steve's hand gizmo to do them (and bend the forefinger back manually)?

You said you added a single blink, but I can't find it.

You've done such a good job with the interaction of the characters that it would be a shame to spoil it with the little things.

Ok Ken I worked on hand animation tonight and I have something to show everyone.

This is as far as I think I well take this tell I get the final sound file if this gets added back inot the movie.

  5. I am trying to open my project file for this scene and it can not find "FilmGrain2.pst" file I have updated and serached all TWO holder and I can not find it? I will cancel it for now but does anyone of any ideas.

  6. I think we need a Director is what I think  I wish my friend Bob was here  By the way does anyone know the statice of th Directors position? I know Rhett is filling in as Project Manager/Director but I thought there was someone from Austrila that was at the Hash Bash that was considering taking Bob place?

  7. This scene is being broken up into small scenes by Rhett I am going to spend some time trying to see if I can make a blanket. THis will give me a rest from the Rooster shot if anyone has any suggestions or even better wants to make this let me know.

  8. I don't think Bob intended for the shot to be this long. If the rooster were a character that we had to establish some sort of personality for maybe then the stylized walk in would be necessary.

But I think this is standard "rooster crowing". Too much could be made of it.

I would start the shot about where the 3 second mark is now. maybe pad about a half second before that.

I think you're on the right track with the rooster crowing part. I wouldn't have known where to start for "rooster crowing" and you've pulled a pretty good solution out of thin air. I'm impressed.

I would drop the complication of adding the walk entirely and focus on the story point of the shot, "Rooster crowing". I think it would make the shot more effective by getting the rooster crowing sooner. If the audience is watching the rooster for 3 seconds before he crows they will know exactly what's going to happen. If they only see him for a half a second before he crows we still have some chance of preserving the impact of this forward-time transition , which is what I think Bob was going for here.

And if we added 3 seconds to every 6 second shot we'd have a very long movie. ;)

You are either one smart guy or you have read this post from the biggening  THis started out as a 2 or 3 sec. scene and I did the crowing although I felt I did not have enough time for a proper anticapation pose that's what bob antmatic asked for. Paul instructed me to add in the walk and Martin has said that I need to resolve this scene one way or the other. So I either nail the walk or get help or dump the walk it's up to Rhett to make that call. For now I am still working at it wish me luck I need it ;)

  9. Some Q's:

Is this the concept of the scene; the rooster silhouetted on morning sun?

    [attachmentid=19920]

If so then don't add any more 3/4 stuff

Is the head stab around 1:00 part of his bird walk? or is it something else?

I talked to Rhett about the scene and he is thinking of the castle in the far background which does not make sence to me now because the Scare Crow is going to through a boot at him so the castle is off screen to right because anmatics show boot coming from right of screen so a country/forest background or sunrise would be better.

The head jab is suposed to be part of the walk I have post google video of rooster walking that I am trying to copy (just before they fight) http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=249...4&q=rooster

  10. I think you've captured the sense of the shot well.

I'm ambivalent about the knees, for a cartoon rooster I think front knees could work.

    macro details:

-I envisioned the rooster slightly gaining altitude as he crows then flopping down rather than going to one general spot and back

-maybe it's too soon to be fine tuning the tail feathers (don't do it until you've finaled the main body) but right now they're not exhibiting the overlapping motion I would expect.

some other notes on the movie...

I am working on rotating right wing only. I read about pushing extremes then pushing them some more but is this too much rotation?

Also I talk to Rhett and we decided to rotate the camera angle square with scene.

  11. Unfortunately Ilidrake has had to leave the project he was working on a blanket for scarecrows bed. We wanted scarecrow to remove the blanket as he gets out of bed. Does anyone want to take over the creation of a blanket so we can carry on as planed PLEASE. I will attach a test render Ilidrake sent me showing me what he had in mind

    blanket_test.mov

  12. Thanks Robcat I will work on those critiques but what do you think of hte head jab? around from 1.00 to 1.17 frame that is what has been giving me the most grief I am trying to get the timing right.

About the balance stuff the camera is on an angle I have attached screen shoot of straight on view #2 on keyboard. What if I cahnge the angle?

    robcat2075.jpg

  13. I was expecting to see some tests of the blanket before Scarecrow was animated... Whether or not the blanket is going to be involved in the shot will make a difference in how it's approached.

What the word from the blanket team?

This scene of Scarecrow getting out of bed will be at least 3 shots. It's good to have the rough render to start with.

    Rhett

By 3 shots do you mean this scene is going to be broken into 3 scenes like _2_01_04a,b,c ? If so I am for that this is looking mighty long and I am worried I can't hold the audeinces attention for 6 to 9 sec.

Ilidrake said he needed about a week for the blanket can. I think one scene for the blanket with one camera angle with mybe a yawn then one for the walk to mirror then maybe one to show off the mirror then the next one would be on to the window. Am I getting out of hand and turning this into a mini movie

I sent you a blanket test on skype but I will post it here for all to see

This is the blocking of the old _2_01_05 scene I copied it over and added some to it and altered the blocking too the window instead of the mirror. THen the blanket idea was presented by Ilidrake so I have not wasted very much time with this scene so far just wanted to through something out here to start from ;)

  14. We are trying to get a blanket for scare crow to through off of him as he gets out of bed and a yawn would be nice before he grabs the hat. I also want to show off the mirror and have him pass in front of it and maybe clance at it. as he walks by? This is why we post WIP of rough takes ;)

  15. Damn, that's one ugly rooster. I can't tell if it's moving anything like a real rooster. We used to have roosters when my kids were growing up, and nothing looks familiar. I think that's why it's easier to critique human motion - because we all know how humans are supposed to move. You've been beating on this shot for months, Mark: I guess at some point we just call it "done," and move on but I don't know when that is?

I know it's an ugly shot I keep trying it and I am thinking to myself that timing is the issue here. That and I am fighting this rig I don't real understand how to work it. I have asked Mark Skodacek for some pointers I think he rigged it but not sure if he actually made the rig? I can only find 2 bones for the neck and I want to get a whipping action but I I can get is bending movement. Need help BUT I AM NOT GIVING UP TELL I FEEL I HAVE SOMETHING I AM PROUD OF  weather anyone else agrees with it is another story ;)

Worked on it again but still ugly

  16. Hi lloyd,

Ok nice work! :) , I'll look at the files asap

Hi Mark, are you the animator using that setup ?

If yes, Let us know your needs here, we'll try to get it right for you

I'll try to provide some render of this set soon

    Thanks

    Al

Yes I am and I have talked to Martin and he says he is going to get this sections or my limit not sure increased so I can post larger WIP's of this set but be warned I will be posting rough takes that will give a nice view of Lloyd's set not my animation skill

    Hi lloyd,

I think Mark want the set in a choreo with some light setup .

    ----------

If you want to experiment some effect like , dynamic, hair etc.

You're very welcome to do so but :

1-If you need people to access your new file, put your work in a separate SVN folder

    (name it "lloyds stuff") ,

2-or keep those experiments on your local and show us movie and picture first...

no need to update like crazy the SVN with experiment ;) once release other guys would work on it too so to avoid problem we should discuss thing on the thread "before" updating the SVN

I consider the bedroom data we got on SVN as the official release version.

if you need more time to complete stuff , take it , we'll release it after.

When the version will be release, people will have to submit any modifiaction to this thread with info and render so we'll be able to discuss and approve ...

it's only after that step that the update of the SVN will be allowed with those modified files.

Is this procedure ok with everyone ?

    later

    Al

I have added some lights to my chor but if someone wants to do a better job and add it too the set that would be great.
