Old, but not often repeated, advice....
sonofpat replied to Dearmad's topic in Work In Progress / Sweatbox
MY turn! (Grabs the conch shell). If you do not have graphic tablet you can paint wrinkles in A.M easier than in most paint programs When you are finished modelling your face for example create a new group called wrinkles, lock everything else and "spline" your wrinkles to your hearts content. After you have flattened your face and made your template for mapping create a seperate layer for for your wrinkles. By duplicating this layer and using tools such as smudge, invert colors, eraser, blur etc you can get far better results than painting directly with a mouse. BTW you can set thc cp color and size to that of the spline in the custumize appearance settings in AM to get smooth lines. In the meanwhile start saving all coins for that wacom cintique we all dream of. Luv Patos -

Lovely model. Can't wait to see him in action. Luv Patos

Just tweaked the spec maps settings to fake "subsurface scattering". From this point I consider the map finnished. If no suggestions are made by you my famous spline pals I will move on to work on the hair Luv patos

Your model is great but your textures gives it toylike tingamajig with detatachable parts.Maybe that is the look you are after. If not I suggest try blending the textures where they meet. Luv pat

Looks promising. Keep at it. Luv pat

Great work as usual. Can you please tell me how to get eyes that look so great. All I can make is "dead-eyes". If you take a look at my Naomi Campbell WIP http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?act=S...t=15#entry15571 If it's not too much problems, I'd like to see the African Child expression on a different background the next time you post. I don't know if my monitor is not configured correctly but it's not easy for me to dissern the model from the background. Luv Pat

Hi All, I'm currently caught up with another project that I'm dead-lined for. However, I was able to squeeze some time to work on the texture map. Here's what I've come up with so far. This is just the color map with no bump or spec map. I will add those over the weekend. Aside from a few minor tweeks on the map itself, I think I'll stick with this one. I still appreciate any suggestion on how I can improve upon it ******************************************************************** A special note to Jim Talbot - I have not yet gotton around to fixing the eye lids but I'll do so soon. Thank you very much for the suggestion ******************************************************************** Luv Patos

Great Work. I love the face especially the nose and the gill slits. The scales look much better now but they end too abrupt at the torso. BTW What is a tessolation? Luv Pat

Great Work. I sometimes start a model as a high density mesh and reduce the patch count after i am satisfied with it. So don't feel too bad . Luv patos

Hi All, I have been a bit busy these days but I managed to tweak her a little. Hers are the changes 1) Pulled the corners of the eyes back,---Thanks to Jim Talbot. 2) Worked the cheek bone area,---Thanks yeve poissant I would appreciate some feed back from both of you on these. 3)Tweaked the shape of the inner eyesocket. 4)added the "pink things" to the inner corner of the eyes. The eyes look quite dead to me how can I get them to sparkle with life. Aside from minor tweaks I consider the model complete. I am focusing on texturing for now. By the end of january I should have a completely repainted texture, after which I will do the hair Here is the latest image of her

Hi All, I'm implementing the changes Jim Talbot suggested to the model. I'm not finished yet, but I can already see the big difference the suggestion has made. The model seems to be taking on some more character as can be seen in the image below. What a difference the touch of the master can make. Thanks again Jim Luv Patos

Happy New Year Every One, I am roughing out her texture and this is what I came up with. I am not very artistic so I need all the suggestions you can give. BTW her eye lashes are a cookie cut with an alpha channel but the region of the image with tha alpha channel is not completely transparent.Any word on this (version 10.5) Sorry I took so long since the last post but I was very busy.
