I think these discussions are good as it reminds folks about how things really are. Lets face it. A lot of times it just comes down to supporting the guys who are providing with something you think enough to buy.
Hash Inc sells a very compelling product at a more than fair yearly subscription plan price. Its pretty hard to try and chissle down a company who is being this good to its users. So just buy the subcription if you want or the unending one and feel good that you are supporting the cause. Cause if you don't there might not be a cause to support.

Douglas, Good first attempt to follow barry's videos----I cannot be much coach as my modeling skills are still pretty poor but something to keep in mind are just some simple lines ---like for instance our shoulders and arms are rather smooth transition --so one simple improvement is to level off the difference from the shoulder to arm making it more a straightline. But like I said I am not one to cast any judgements -----and bravo for posting your efforts ---a lot more courage than I have had.
So kudos and keep going.

I have one win 8 machine -------its really sad how hard they make it to find the things you feel comfortable with before. I hope they come out with a 8.1 where you can ditch metro front screen all together. If you do not have a touch screen its pretty lame anyhow.

Paul , most of the folks in this conversation I do not think are blaming anyone for anything. For a community mostly made up of hobbyist who have real jobs and real responsibilities --this rl thing will and does sometimes make doing anything creative difficult . The fact that some folks start something and cannot complete and others take over -----is just the way it is. It is actually expected not a surprise for anyone who has been around the block just once.
I think you are right in saying learn from mistakes, and guess what --even then there will be more anyhow. Its just the way things go.
And as far as community projects ---its not just so simple to have anyone stand up and say lets do this because I can volunteer my time etc. ---It kind of takes a village maybe a whole town to make a project. Smiles.
And community project ---in itself is a misnomer. Its not like the community is one. It's a splintered mix of talents , ideas , and availabilities. At best you can have a group project --for those who can in all that "can" means.
But--- in the end it almost always will take a driving force of at least a few especially talented folks to make anything significant happen as indeed reality sucks.

I think that the idea of small groups working on a smallish project with the intention of growing expertise makes the most sense to me if a larger group project was going to be tried down the road. This does many things. It makes people learn to work as a group and it helps people learn way faster and better than struggling more on their own. It also creates people who are going to be more dependable if a larger longer project got started as they will have already gotten some experience what it is like working on a project. (Yes , some of the shine would have worn off by then).

Not that I would be much help in any project considering my level of expertise ...more like the 10th man on a basketball team but I have been getting more time back into AM again and who knows maybe with a little more focus might even come off the bench and make a lucky basket. Smiles.
So a short project down the road might be a good thing for me.

Robert-----very nice indeed!. The three I looked at so far are awesome. great quality of image and the content. These will be so helpful. If you are able to continue these --that would be so amazing for all the folks who start with AM and those who struggle and even those who are proficient might learn a thing a two or three. Smiles .

Very nice Gene----the Music and the animation blending very well together. Obviously you are getting along stronger and stronger after each of these videos . The progression of skill is well demonstrated and there is your humorous style running through all of them. Great job.....and congrats on finishing yet another SpleenGene animation!

I think some of the new ideas are good......sometimes we are to close to things and we forget not everyone is on the same page ---so yes folks in AM know you and your characters but a little more whiz bang for others might help and really if you are trying to get as broad an audience as possible its good to start with your potential supporters.

one item I have heard a lot of good comments about is the screen capturing it does. Alot of folks who do tutorials have given it pretty nice praise considering the price and its competitors in that realm ----let alone the other faeture set items. Just thought I would add this to the mix.

It's kind of fun to help run a company with all these pricing ideas --but in the end its up to Hash Inc to figure what works best for them.
The new subscription plan certainly eliminates any of those old issues which in practice just enabled breaking the Eula pretty easily with resale . As to the legalities --lets face it we as consumers never read those things because why bother ---if you want to use the software you have to agree anyhow. We all know we are agreeing to a one sided all for one party aggreement. and just click ok. ----Sad but true. But ---you are agreeing to these crazy terms in the end.
I think Hash's current system must be ok for them but passing up new ideas to them cannot be bad as maybe sometimes they never think what the customers may want.
