  1. So, following along this thread - I guess some things are still being tossed around like the camera -views and transitions to be used. Additionally I guess one could also ask what is the goal of all these window scenes if any. Are there any thematic directions to work within? Are all the windows scenes just going to be strung together with some kind of beginning and some kind of end?

And my own point of view as to the camera ---I think it makes most sense to have it coming from a room where the character like Jimmy Stewart would be sitting but my take is that each window should have its own camera shot kind of like Paul has exampled. The movie itself takes some liberties with that and it seems to be it would be good for this project as well. Even from one window depending how close one gets to the window and how good your binoculars or super zoom lens ---one could get a pretty darn good look into each window like a stage.

The SVN thing is new for me and maybe some others reading along so maybe someone can explain what and how that works vis a vis this community project.

  2. I would think that keeping the continuity of the look you want would get difficult with every and each contributor ----you would have to be extremely tough on ensuring folks were making models , props etc to your specifications which is going to make for some tough calls and rejections and revisions etc etc which would be needed but would make things tedious perhaps to the contributors. And what of voice etc ..the main characters would need a continuity there.

    Just hurdles not obstacles.

  3. When I made my first entrance into am in ver 12 era.....i do recall Vernon was all over the forums --kind of like you Rodney-------He did provide a certain entertainment level as well in some of his posts if i recall too. So yes would always be great to see a return.

  4. Seems a reasonable and fair way of doing things William. And to clarify - since you seek total artistic control are you having any contributors only using your assets? I was not sure reading this and so figure any others might have similar question. Smiles

  5. William-

This is the age old problem for folks who like to toil in this garden. It takes a lot of time. And time that if you are working full time for others you will not ever get to use. The flip side it usually pays the bills for you and whoever else you care take for.

Jumping ship is not a easy decision to make. One I could not make myself right now for sure but the idea of working all your time at something you love is pretty compelling and I would be envious.

A tough choice indeed. Good luck either way.

  6. thanks Robert, I will try and use him for my practicing then. There's a lot to animation here and just needed to start digging into some stuff with that. I have kind of been slowly taking pieces of the AM process and working my way around all the things but making a character still not coming along as fast as i would like but in between that ---It will be good to start practicing some animation techniques with the tools we have here.

  7. So , lets suppose the big bad gods took away all your own characters and you were left with choosing only one library actor. Who would it be?

I am asking because I am still working on learning modeling and do hope hope to create my own characters someday but in the meantime I need to also work on learning animation techniques and just wondered what some of your thoughts would be on that.

    Thanks.

  8. Welcome back larswik!

Now that you have it you probably already feel the nice stableness as compared to years of ole. And Indeed -the community forum here is amazing for help. Most of time every question gets answered within a day or much sooner. So ask and ye shall have answers.

You will also find so much learning items just searching through the forums. So enjoy ! AM really is better than ever.

  9. Fuchur,

I think the current planned option makes it best for AM'ers- who would like some helpful modeling tools. I think it is gonna be so so helpful . A auto tool although a great time saver perhaps does not advance ones splinnage skills either as much. So given limited resources for developement ---I think what we are going to get is awesome.
