  1. It will be even more sensational now that I have figured out the volume button on the Laptop I'd be interested, I have a few updates to show and some questions to ask
  2. Well I have been beavering away again on my next Bella Bear story, and I have knocked out these two models for all to see and comment on (I said comment not rip to shreds ) Obviously they are not finished yet but they are firing up my enthusiams for this project and it feeeeeeels GOOD!
  3. Well, well, well - Daleks! I haven't seen a Dalek in years. They look good and remind me of my childhood, I loved Dr Who. However, I always thought the Daleks were silly how could a machine that had a toilet plunger for it arm and unable to climb stairs terrorise the Galaxy? But they were sinister and evil looking. The original film with Peter Cushing was great and almost believable. Perhaps you might want to try modernising a Dalek to make it seem more believable that would be an interesting challenge. Anyway, I think the lights on their heads need changing. Not all of them had a toilet plunger either, some had pincers. Might be an idea to add some dirt maps to them also to make em look like they have been in the wars. I look forward to see how they progress.
  4. Its all a plot to smuggle him into the UKand dispand the the BAM LAMU gang... I told you that the Hash gang are all out to get us UK users, it's a Mel Gibson thing Now where did I put my medicine... Oh, do I really have to take it...
  5. Well, Paul you sligh old bugger! You sat there all day not saying much and then you launch a website on us - GLA:M Gang - and I couldn't stop laughing at the picture and title! Any chance of super imposing you and me on that photo? I wouldn't want Sam, Keates and Milligan getting all the publicity Then again, perhaps that would be a better idea to keep a low profile. Anyway, keep up the work on the website and if you need any help with it let me know I MIGHT be able to help If you want to post links to my websites feel free. Well, all I can say is I hope these meetings continue and the work by its members flourishes. Big thanks to Sam for getting the venue, it was nice having a room to ourselves instead of standing around in some dingy old pub (Not that the pub we were in was dingy).
  6. Well I enjoyed meself, and it was great to finally meet some other Hashers in UK and not online. The only problem we had was no sound on the laptop for some reason it had turned itself off. I tried all sorts of things to get it to work, but alas they all failed (I also forgot the mouse - that would have helped too). Anyway, when I got home went through the manual and still couldn't work it out. Then I plugged my headphones in and the sound still didn't work. I was now thinking my stepson was not going to be too impressed that I had broken his laptop. Then as I was unplugging me headphones... YOU COMPLETE DOUGHNUT!!! There is a volume control on the side of the laptop which had been turned right down when I put the laptop in its carry case... Well, guess I am not used to laptops... or computers Looking forward to the next venue!
  7. Parlo mate, check your e-mail I have sent you me mobile in case you need it
  8. Well you 'orrible lot, I nearly had to blow this venue out since I was supposed to help out with a diver training expedition but alas that HAS been blown out ( I think I would rather go to Hash do anyway ) So I have permission from the 'Missus Almighty' to join you, and whats more bring a spanking brand new laptop! So if you have any work that you want to display or renders to review bring them on. The only thing is I don't know if it has got Quicktime on the laptop. If it hasn't I'll try and put in on this evening when I get the lappie - cannot promise it though Anyway, I will see you lot there - looking forward to it!
  9. Huh! That's what I mean I NEVER GOT ONE!! Suppose I am not important - SULK… Well I will be at this venue cos I got the craptop
  10. Fine for me m8 I only hope the rest of the London Gang can make it
  11. Right, I have taken off the silly textures now so here we have a close up of the face. I am not sure whether to give him teeth or not or some sort of mandibles… I think I need to shut his mouth too!
  12. You could start by making the rendered image a little lighter so that us mortals without nocturnal vision could see it more easily
  13. Right, I couldn't resist posting this critter - it's a long while since I modeled a creature in AM and I am trying out the OSX version of AM. So far so good. This chap will be appearing, once finished, in my Bella Bear stories and replace the original alien that I nicked from the Hash CD. I kinda made him look a bit like Alf since I thought it might be fun to make him distant cousin… Anyway any comments or suggestions welcome. Oh, and please ignore the leery material - I am not using that I just wanted to try the materials under AM for OSX
  14. Right! This is gonna cause a fight cos I want that T-Shirt! I originally tried to start a UK user group 3 years ago and I didn't get one when I one the animation contest and I am gonna be supplying the laptop - it's mine, my precious all mine… we loves thee precious… so bueatiful Snigger Anyway I have definately got a decent craptop to take but we need a date, Parlo has the venue. So WHEN do people want to meet? I am looking forward to this venue.
  15. Am I thick or what? I don't know where my mind was when I asked this question since I wasn't thinking coreography duh! Too much using other 3D programs at work I guess
  16. You mean Vern! Vern IS Gandalf… have a look at his avatar if you don't believe me BTW - William do you have a day job? Where do you find the time to do all this great stuff - you must live in front of your machine. Are those columns flocked or seperate peices of geometry? I know there are no instance features in AM so I guess to save on patches you flocked them n'est pas?
  17. William will ya stop making such good peices of work! You're making me feel inadequate Mind you there is one conselation… it looks a bit like me on a GOOD day! ANIMATE HIM! ANIMATE HIM! ANIMATE HIM!
  18. I have always wondered about these - aren't you supposed to get one when you win an animation/modeling competition cos I never got one
  19. Burgers, Kebabs with curry sauce... am I getting the impression Sam, that thou art a fast food junkie
  20. Good news i just realised that my step son has got a brand spanking new laptop that I am sure he would let me borrow, especially if i design a logo for him. I think it is a 2.4ghz celery (celeron) with DVD/CDRW 256mb RAM - that should do the trick shouldn't it?
  21. Sam mate I have one but its a bit old... would it be any good? Also all London Hashers look here: CGI Festival I know it will not have the Hash gang there ARE YOU LISTENING HASH? but it make another good venue to meet up at. I will ask the Hash gang if there is any chance of their going there.
  22. Well I don't adam and eve it, I just posted a similar thread under the general discussions. SIGGRAPH UK I would LOVE to meet up with some other hashers in London and I ain't too far away from London (30-45mins) north west Kent in fact. Is the meet still on? I could try and russle up a laptop from work and we could use that. Failing that I if you only wanna watch images then I could bring me clapped out PII craptop but I don't think the battery works - it needs to be plugged in. Even if it is just to meet and say hello in a pub it would be nice. Not sure if I can do this Sat coming though I'm booked up for diving As for the name of the group how about 'The Cockney Hashers' if its in London. Yes? No? Crap? Pathetic? Answers on a postcard.
  23. Woooo Ken, nice eye. BTW what's that Simbioant? I have heard of it - obviously for creating complicated shaders. Where did you get it and what does it also do?
  24. Ken, I was gonna say he looked a bit smooth... then you put the bump map on him and WOW! He's looking real good The only thing that I think that looks outta place is the shine on his skin. Unless your troll uses baby oil, which I doubt, then I would have thought his skin would not have such sharp specular points on it. Out of interest how long did you spend on the texturing and did you do it in AM 11 using a Wacom tablet? I have never really gone that deep into texturing using maps I will have to start - you've urged me on! He's gonna be interesting to see animated, that is if you are gonna rig him.
  25. Well Smudge you asked for it ! Here's a glimpse. It's not finished yet I have still to get rid of obvious tiles, improve the grass and various other little tweaks before I am happy with it. after all that work on the leaves and they're only in the background god doesn't 3D take up your time… it's worth it though
