  1. Rich, Thanks for the comments! I've been tempted by 'toon' but will probably only run it in render tests. One possible exception would be if I use the toon settings that produce results such as the spaceship. Straight toon or anime, unless I go fully with that style would be too distracting. A second exception would be to composite toon lines over the top of regularly rendered scenes. A third exception... (you get the idea, right?) I'll use whatever works within a unified 'style'. That style hasn't been finalized yet for this project. The style in this case must serve the story and the story is still being worked. ...and I agree that A:M is for artists... it's for us hobbyists too! Thanks again. Keep on splinin'!
  2. I haven't been admitted to the Group yet and... ...I'm afraid to check as I'll not be able to do anything tonight anyway... real world mission (i.e. work)
  3. Javier! You just made my night!
  4. Anyone need to upload files? I'm sure Gregg has a method to make this happen. We can store things temporarily at rodneysfiles if needed: http://home.comcast.net/~rodneysfiles/index.htm
  5. Not bad... not bad... (He looks rather cranky but maybe that's because he's a imp and a half modeled imp at that) It will be interesting to see how you animate him! *forgot the emoticon
  6. Sent a response via email... I think it's a good idea. I'll join you there. Hope you keep posting teasers here though...
  7. For chrome, keep in mind that you need something to reflect or you'll get black or whatever the scene/camera color is. The night vision goggles look good too. I'm not that familiar with the two eye version though. The PVS 7Bs (cyclops) I'm quite familiar with though... The helmet looks good. Wish my digital camera was working as I'd upload a shot of my helmet for comparison. Recently my digital camera ate my Zoo pictures and refuses to let me access anything from the disk! BTW - Military guys are cool!
  8. I'd say she cleans up quite nicely! *Added: Colors subject to change.
  9. Bjorn, She's was originally designed to have the ability of flight via her boots. If you check out the following link I think you have my "official" answer: Javiers rocket power demo! I can't speak for Javier... but my fingers are crossed...
  10. I somehow missed the last couple posts here... maybe I *have* been timetraveling... Awesome work Javier!!! If you don't do comic work you'd better start today! Here's a sneek peak at a first attempt at a sword modeled off-line by Keith Fay: If anyone would like a 3D model built I believe Keith might be interested. He can be contacted at: kfay@suscom.net Javier, How could you?
  11. I like what I see of the improvements thus far. I think the camera angle works well for testing but would change if going final. Will he take to the skies on the second jump?
  12. I haven't had time to contribute as I had promised... I'll try to make up for that now. Is it okay to post bits of the script here? Is this supposed to be somewhat hush, hush? Has anyone modeled the lightswitch yet. I'll do that! ... And should I be watching the movie for inspiration here? Any certain parts?
  13. This is weird. I know I commented to your post and you responded back... and others did too, but I don't see any of those (and other) posts here. I must be REALLY tired THIS TIME... or maybe I'm timetraveling again. I hate it when that happens... Anyway Justin... excellent as usual. Now... Get back to work on ANTZ 2!
  14. Javier, I hadn't taken the time to comment on your work thus far, especially the picture above. I have to say you've done an excellent job capturing her clothes from that little picture I posted. Looking back at my picture it amazes me how much I didn't know about drawing at the time I did it. Excellent translation from the minimal information you had!
  15. ... and a side view/possible movement study.
  16. A couple shots overlapped: I'd guess the knee joint piece is what allows the "leggings" to be balanced and respond to her muscle movements.
  17. The sword scabbard (the hole in the top of the legging) can go away... sorry. She may just have to carry swords on her back. Unless they telescope... I'll try to do a superimpose of the parts and post that.
  18. Decisions, decisions... Unless you convince me otherwise I think she has what will pass for real legs inside the larger "leggings". Kind of an exo skeleton I guess. Guess I didn't think that far ahead back in my 2D days... The leggings are our joint problem of course. I drew one take on it. Will post as soon as I can get it on the net.
  19. William, I like this trailer even better than the first! Although I'd have to look at the first one again to be sure... Seems there was more of your work in the first. (or at least what looked to be A:M animated). It has the feel of a cult classic ala Rocky Horror (which I admittedly haven't seen). Best wishes for success.
  20. You may be convincing me to stick to cartoons (and simple models) in my projects! You are wearing me out just looking at the detail you are modeling into your mech. I am SO GLAD that my primary *mech* model is based on toothpicks and matches... A lot of my thinking these days deals with life in a 2D world (as most of my drawing experience revolves around comics). Viewing your images again today made me think about the benefits of A:M as applied to those 2D worlds. One awesome aspect of A:M is that you (in this case, literally you) can build a very detailed model in A:M and through posing get that same level of detail in any angle shot you want. It sure would be hard to draw and redraw that detail in 2D! Staggers the mind...
  21. Until the time you and the rest of the A:M Guru's decide to do a tutorial on use of the Talent Button I'll just sit here and admire.... hope you don't mind. Thanks for the wireframe!
  22. Nice pic Javier! Very Nice. No plans for toon render. Although, I have got distracted the last two hours trying out some toon render techniques... *Different character though... You must be watching... where's the camera?
  23. BUMP and Congratulations! I wasn't a bit surprized to see your name in winner's circle! Looking forward to your entry for March! Will one page be enough for you?
  24. You've definitely got the popular style of comics down. What I find most amazing though is how well you translated your pencil/comic style into 3D. Wish I could say the same. I guess the problem with me is that I have too many styles. With your comic orientation I sure hope you are working toward a submission for this months comic contest... *Added: The 'costume' looks fine to me!
  25. First one... quite ugly... second no better. I've definitely lost the "John Byrne" look... Need to get it back...
