nerrazzi
I was just poking around today with decals and how I can use them to breath life into a character. So far, I was able to give my simple "2 patch count" ninja model about five facial expressions, it worked for his eyes so I know it'll work for his mouth phonemes although I didn't bother making them. Just curious in what some of you think about it... quickface.mov
nerrazzi
Here are the decals I used to make the expressions, I never modeled any eyeballs did any smart-skinning or use the toon renderer, come to think of it render times are lightning quick. nerrazzi
You can actually take this a step further and create your own "south-park-like" characters. (personally i don't like the show...)
littleandy
Wow, that is cool! Did you just do that by using on/off poses and alternating between them? That is inspiring, in a weird way. -Andrew
Admin Rodney Posted December 1, 2004 Admin Share Posted December 1, 2004 That is inspiring, in a weird way. hehe. Damning with faint praise. Ah fans eh? Please continue... I like where this is going. Well... minus the SouthPark stuff of course.
littleandy
Haha, well, whether you like South Park or not, I think it can be agreed that it is a testament to how little time it really takes to make a financially successful animation. I just didn't realize it could be done with Animation: Master. I think that is cool. Looking forward to see more! -Andrew
John Bigboote
I did a similar thing recently except I used animated bump mattes. Very cool approach. I was able to do my lip synch in after effects and then apply them to my model as a bump...worked great...I'll try to post a movie tomorrow. nerrazzi
Did you just do that by using on/off poses and alternating between them? Nope, used percentage p/s and set its' interpolation to HOLD, although now that you mentioned it, it sounds like using an on/off p/s would save some time and do the same trick.... hummm I was able to do my lip synch in after effects and then apply them to my model as a bump Yip! You can even control lighting decals this way.
