anzovin Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Morgan is promising me that she will be ready to demo TSM2 at Siggraph. It's actually kind of a brilliant thing she's made--very cool. She should be showing it off at the Hash party . . . Steve Anzovin Studio Quote
anzovin Posted August 6, 2004 Author Posted August 6, 2004 We've posted a quickie Setup Machine 2 tutorial movie to show some of the new functionality. Raf rigs a basic biped right in A:M in about a minute and shows off the new squash and stretch feature. http://www.rafhashvideotapes.com/lib/rafha...pes/TSM2-01.mov More about TSM2 at http://www.rafhashvideotapes.com/setupmachine10.html Thanks, Steve Anzovin Studio Quote
ZachBG Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Nice stuff. Is there a capacity for mutliple heads (for that Zaphod Beeblebrox contract I'll be gettin' any day now)? Quote
anzovin Posted August 8, 2004 Author Posted August 8, 2004 Nice stuff. Is there a capacity for mutliple heads (for that Zaphod Beeblebrox contract I'll be gettin' any day now)? You can have any number of heads. (This was true for TSM1 as well, but it's easier to implement now.) You'll be able to use the new Parts Builder to add as many as required. John Bigboote Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 Quite impressive, LOTS of new implementations, I like how it works right within A:M. The squash and stretch will be a boon to us 'cartoony' animators. My only question was answered on the webpage... Q:When will it be out? A: Later August. Thanks Anzovins! Quote
kat Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 This will be mine... oh yes... it will be....(evil laugh) hm hm hm hm...HA HA HA! Quote
My Fault Posted August 13, 2004 Posted August 13, 2004 Ok, dumb question coming.... if I pre-order TSM2 it is on sale for $90, however if I buy TSM1 it's only $70 but is freely upgradeable to 2 when it comes out. Is that correct? Seems odd that the preorder price is $20 more then the free upgrade price... or maybe I am just missing something obvious..... certainly wouldn't be the first time I've done that Also, is TSM2 the only one that works with v11? Does that mean the old 10.5 rigs don't work withh v11? Looks great BTW, can't wait to see more videos on how it works. Nico Quote
Morgan Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Not sure on the pricing thing, but you're right, it doesn't seem to make sense. I'll pass the question along. On the technical side of things, I believe TSM1 does "mostly work" with v11, currently. I have some unconfirmed reports that it may have destructive "side effects" in certain models. The rigs themselves, of course, should be work indefinitely -- the issue is actually running TSM1 on models created in v11. TSM2 will work with v11 and later. I'm hoping it will have a much longer "lifespan" than TSM1, since it's using the SDK, rather than relying on file structure. And yes, I'm still projecting a "late August" release... although it's possible that will mean the 31st, at midnight. Quote
KenH Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 And yes, I'm still projecting a "late August" release... although it's possible that will mean the 31st, at midnight. Really?!? I'm holding you to that ....my models are building up waiting to be rigged. Quote
Morgan Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 Well, Raf has just made some salient points concerning 1) testing and 2) documentation... particularly since Steve won't be able to take his usual organizational and editorial roles. So I'm afraid an August 31st release might be wishful thinking on my part, even if the program itself will be effectively "done" by then. Sorry about that. I'd probably better not give a release date, but I'll say this: However much you want to get your hands on TSM2, I want to hand it over and take a break from coding -- and computers in general -- even more. So it will be done as soon as possible. Quote
John Bigboote Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 OHHHHhhhhh. I was unaware that the current TSM was having troubles working with v11, that may explain some things. Could you, if you modelled in v11, open the model in v 10.5 and resave it and then apply the TSM bones and THEN run it thru TSM? And then...and then... reopen it in v11 and reapply any v11 features, like hair and stuff? Quote
dborruso Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Will TSM2 be ready by the October 15 mascot competition? Quote
My Fault Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 Not sure on the pricing thing, but you're right, it doesn't seem to make sense. I'll pass the question along. Awesome, that would be a great help. Thanks! Quote
JTalbotski Posted August 29, 2004 Posted August 29, 2004 It looks very promising! What are the plans for an OSX version? Jim Quote
Morgan Posted August 30, 2004 Posted August 30, 2004 OHHHHhhhhh. I was unaware that the current TSM was having troubles working with v11, that may explain some things. And then...and then... reopen it in v11 and reapply any v11 features, like hair and stuff? While I haven't tested this between 11 & 10.5, I've always found A:M to be very backwards compatible. If you have TSM1 and don't want to upgrade (or need something rigged ASAP), it would be worth trying. Be sure to save backups of your file(s), of course. Will TSM2 be ready by the October 15 mascot competition? Barring unforseen disaster... yes. It looks very promising! What are the plans for an OSX version? Randy has graciously offered to let us recompile TSM2 using his port of the Win32 libraries, so will certainly expedite the process. I can't make any promises, but with luck it should be out not long after the Windows version. Quote
My Fault Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 So how long does it usually take to get a serial number? I would've thought it was automated but since it's been close to two days, I guess not. Any help would be appreciated! Quote
Raf Anzovin Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 So how long does it usually take to get a serial number? I would've thought it was automated but since it's been close to two days, I guess not. Any help would be appreciated! Serial numbers are NOT automated--I send out each after checking the order. Usually, serials do not go out over the weekend, and, of course, the TSM2 serials are not yet ready to be released. Pre-ordering customers will get their serials at the same time that we release the link for downloading the software. Steve Anzovin Studio (yes, back at work!) Quote
My Fault Posted September 5, 2004 Posted September 5, 2004 Great to see you're back to work and evidently feeling good! Now go relax and take some time off Looking forward to Setup Machine 2! Quote
anzovin Posted September 7, 2004 Author Posted September 7, 2004 TSM2 progress report: Morgan and Raf just have a few more bugs to squash this week on TSM2, and the Parts Builder to finish. It may not quite be ready by week's end, but look for a TSM2 1.0.0 release with preliminary documentation next week. --Steve Anzovin Studio Quote
markimarkc Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Hi. I have pre ordered TSM 2, and was just wondering if there is any further news on a possible release date yet, (apart from sometime this week). I really cannot wait any longer. If I don't get hold of this soon...my head will explode Also, will the serial number arrive at the same time as the link, so we can start using it immediately, or will we have to wait a bit longer for it ?? Thanks for any info (I am sooooo excited) Quote
KenH Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 I wondered who would break first. The tension is building here also. So much so, I've resorted to pretending TSM1 is actually TSM2. Ahh...lovely baby. So, easy to use, yes. Quote
Morgan Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 I apologize for the delay. Unfortunately I came down with some kind of flu over the weekend, and wasn't able to get things done as soon as I'd projected. So, we'll be releasing TSM2 some time tomorrow. For those who have pre-ordered, I'll send out serial numbers at the same time as the link. In general, we'll be using the same system as before, so there will be some delay between order and serial number delivery... but hopefully not too much. I'll be monitoring orders over the weekend, so serial numbers will be going out then too. Thank you all for your patience and/or enthusiasm. -Morgan Quote
clingfree Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 I just purchased the 1.3 version of the Setup Machine two weeks ago. What do I have to do to get on the list for my free upgrade? I am so looking forward to having this. Thanks... Quote
