  1. I really enjoyed working with ya! I don't know many people who could have pulled this off, and as well as you did. A definite labor of love. Can't wait to watch it when I get back to the states. Of course, now we all wonder, what is next for ya, you mad, crazy ninja?

  3. Wow, so many great ideas. Gonna grab some coffee and give them all a try. I really like the idea of filtering and the Key Groups discussion looks especially promising. Thanks gang!
  4. As a user of another program whose name I shall not speak (LOL) there are certain work flows I have grown used to and am curious if I can do something similar with Hash. One involves the use of groups for keying animation. As an example, many times I will key in the body and the face separate, so easy peasy, I would just make two groups, one that contains all the body animation controls and one containing all the facial animation controls. This helps to keep a clean time line and makes it easier if say, want to re-time the body animation without effecting lip sync. I've watched Robcat's uber helpful keying tutorials, but so far haven't figured out a way to do this in hash. I thought about using actions, but that seemed less useful as you would then be animating each group separately. Are there any tricks or work flow ideas hash users use for instances like this? Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this
  5. Woooo, I knew I was missing something obvious. Like I mentioned to Rodney, getting used to all the property triangles again and making sure I am checking the right one, which I wasn't, was breaking my feeble old brain. Thanks Robert and Rodney! Now back to more hashimation
  6. Thanks Rodney, sometimes it is easy to get lost in all the little triangles. So project is set to 24fps, very odd. I even tried doing a quick animation and rendering that out of animation master as a sequence, I then brought that image sequence back in to the same file and they do not match up. The skipping does seem to be consistent though, goes right for 4 frame, then skips one. I know I must be missing something obvious, probably just need some more caffeine and it will hit me. Thanks again for the help fellows!
  7. Looking everywhere but have not found a place to set my roto fps. I've tried tga sequences and avi, neither gives me that option. The only option I see for cho fps is in my tools/options default frame rate, is that correct? Sorry for such rudimentary questions, been years since I have waded in the animation master waters. Have finished a few shots the last few weeks, but this is the first time I have used roto's. Appreciate you taking the time to help Rob, thanks!
  8. I was trying to import a rotoscope of some 2d blocking for a shot (using v13.0t) and noticed that all of the sudden, my lipsync didn't seem to match up. I then added frame numbers on my imported image sequence and noticed that animation master would skip frames, seemingly at random. Any idea why hash just won't bring the sequence in like it should and would skip frames? What am I doing wrong? thanks for any help
  9. I certainly didn't intend to help blow this up in to a big issue but to me it was the one thing that really jarred me out of the scene. My wife and son also had the same reaction but they probably don't count as non animators as they have both watched countless animation lectures including Jason Ryan's (Disney animator) fantastic eye lecture and a talk my other mentor Jason Schleifer (Weta and Dreamworks) gave to us one week on eyes. I will try to locate my "eye" notes and post up a bit in another thread so as not to take anything away from Stephen's incredible work. I do apologize if I came off too blunt but that is how we were generally trained to be in Animation Mentor. Honest criticism by everyone was highly valued as it made us all the better for it. Doesn't take long to develop a thicker skin and realize that no one was out to rip anyone elses work but wants to see everyone improve and become the best animator that they can each be. I need to remember that this community is not like that and most do not want to hear what is wrong but what is right. My bad and I will try like heck to do that in the future. And for goodness sake, will someone change Bigboote's diapers, he seems like he is very cranky.
  10. My biggest beef about this at CGTalk is that it still hasn't made the front page. This is a very impressive piece that tells a story well and the overall animation is exceedingly well done. I will continue to pester the forum leaders and hope everyone else will as well. Front page worthy!!
  11. It is scary to think that as amazing as your work was before, a tool like 3d Painter is going to help you make it even better. Always fun to watch someone so gifted get his creative mojo on!
  12. Totally disagree with Yves here, but I find I usually disagree with him. Not to get off topic but people tried this same excuse at Animation Mentor and were rightly shot down in most cases. The rules weren't created haphazardly but are time tested by people who have centuries of experience when you add it all together. As good as this shot was there are things that can be improved. Personally I believe that Stephen is one of those individuals that works at a level high enough where he can tell the story and nail the animation in all parts. He didn't get this good by using the old "it's my style" excuse. When do we get to see more?
  13. Yeah that close up of the eye dart was the only thing that I think needs some slight massaging, outside of that it is a beautiful piece of work. As quickly as eyes can move when you are that close up it is still a good idea to add a frame or two of cushion. So slight overshoot then settle back. I love watching this. You have always been one of my favorite A:M animators and this looks sooo amazing and makes me want to see more.... more...more...MORE!!!!

  15. Looks tremendous. Any other info from Anzovin on how this was done, their workflow, etc? Shame they didn't give credit to Anzovin or A:M on YouTube for this.
  16. Holy mackerel Martin, that Superman shot is amazing! Jeff Bunker's AM work blows me away every time I see something from him.
  17. Bummer you guys had to stop but those are some stunning models! Hopefully you put them on the next extra's CD. They would be a great gift to the community and certainly garner you an extremely large amount of karma points! Look forward to seeing what you guys model next. I am sure it will be amazing!

  20. I honestly want to come up with some kind of crit for this but all I can do is sit here thinking how much I love how this looks and that you need to do more. Beautiful work Mike!
  21. Yeah, he actually looks kind of tiny without anything else to give it some scale. A few other things I think are keeping him from looking large and imposing. Right now he seems to be moving too quickly and with too little weight to him. I would also have his body drop much deeper when his foot hits. Right now it looks a bit robotic. Perhaps a little more follow through on his arms and chest and head as well when he steps. Love the modeling on the Balrog and the set is blowing my mind. Amazing work!
  22. I have. It makes for a very fun facial system. My biggest recommendation would be to pick up Jason Osipa's book "Stop Staring." It goes in to a similar setup using Maya, but is even easier to set up in AM. It will help you make sure you've got every pose that you will probably need. Plus it is probably the most informative book out there for doing facial work.
  23. Hey John, have you tried letting Ken Baer at the source code? He's used his mad ninja programming powers before for other AM plugins and may be able to do so again.
