rusty
Hi, I know how to create the sphere, lol, but how do I make it spin evenly? A formula? Thanks for any help, Rusty PS: I use to know how to do this stuff, use it of lose it.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 31, 2019 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 31, 2019 Welcome back Rusty! The easiest way to do spinning rotation is to change the interpolation method of the bone from Quat to "Euler" Try this. If you have more questions, ask. Geez, almost ten years since that post Seems like just yesterday.
rusty
There was a formula you could enter that kept it spinning or rotating. Any ideas? Rusty
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 31, 2019 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 31, 2019 Does it have to be a formula? that won't be the easiest way. What did not work about either of the two ways in my link ?
Wildsided
Could you not just make an action that has it rotating around its Y axis and then loop it however many times you need?
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 1, 2019 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 1, 2019 try this, Rusty... clip4512EulerRotation.mp4
rusty
Robert, Thank you for all the effort you put into that. Definitely new stuff to me. I writing a blog post on relativity and length contraction and I want to show a spinning basketball flattened in the direction of travel...if that makes sense. I'll spin the basketball in AM and flatten the animation in AE. Fun stuff. Thanks! Rusty

In A:M you can flatten it while it's rotating by making the bone the mesh is on a child of another bone and scaling the parent bone in one direction. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 1, 2019 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 1, 2019 Here is a sample PRJ that demonstrates the squeezing on one axis while another axis rotates. rusty
Rob, Your the best!! How is Hash doing? I have Maya, Softimage and Blender and still A:M is my work horse. It's just so much easier. Rusty
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 2, 2019 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 2, 2019 Well, Hash is still there and we're all here answering your questions ASAP! That's better than Softimage is doing these days. Keep up on your subscription!
rusty
Rob, Here's what I came up with...it good enough for my blog post. Now if I just knew more about containers and codec. To get a good mp4 I have to upload avi to YouTube and then download it. I wish I knew what YouTube's settings were and how to convert to them. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 3, 2019 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 3, 2019 That looks good! How about stars whizzing by in the background? On mp4... Do you have Quicktime Pro?

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 3, 2019 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 3, 2019 Unfortunately, they don't' sell it any more, but it is my preferred video compression tool. Because of that I'm not up on what the current alternatives are.
rusty
Rob, I'm sure you could tell me how to do this in A:M too. Basketball0.mp4
