Madfox
Although I have Amv16 updated to v17 I have another error. It's not this version, but the earlier versions. You can ask why I want them both, but lots of files are twitched in versions. After installing Am v.11 I can update to v.12. When I do so, the the program bumps telling the disk isn't in the cdrom. Of course It is version v11 in the cdrom, but what is stopping the update? I thought it would be updated with the old disk in the cdrom. Also the update wants files from the ftp site, but that fails. res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.htm#ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/am2005/v12stuff-full.exe It seems the site isn't there anymore, so how can I obtain these files? regards
Madfox
I found the ftp site, but it's not really clear to me. In the AM2005 folder I see all files but no update. In the AM2006 folder I see an update but that goes for AMv.13 Only question is how can I launch the v.12 with an updated version and a v.11in the cdrom. Admin Rodney Posted January 26, 2018 Admin Share Posted January 26, 2018 In the AM2005 folder I see all files but no update. ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/updates/windows/Am2005/ At this location the most current release should be the AM2005.exe file That should be the last update for 2005 (although that doesn't necessarily mean it is the last update you can run with your CD). The file in the AM2006 folder could run on your CD. That largely depends on when you purchased. Have you tried that one? If you have a v11 CDrom I'd think the very latest you could run would be the exe file in the AM 2005 directory.
Jason Simonds
There also is a 11.1 2005 was a crazy year. I think in the folder you need the 2005 and the 2005 patch to run the software and either the 12stuff or the v11stuff since you have the ftp path I'm going to skip posting all the links. But I really sure if you have a chance of running the software you need both stuff and patch for you version.
Madfox
I was a bit confused about the updating proces. So AM2005 doesn't up date to AM2006, but AMv11.0 updates to AMv12.0 I assumed it would be regular, like AM2016 updates to AM2017. It works alright now. As for what I can see now the same would be possible with AMv.0.8 Don't see it working on AMv0.85, but I think that's outdated. Thanks for the info! Admin Rodney Posted January 27, 2018 Admin Share Posted January 27, 2018 Back in those days update were for a *calendar* year as opposed to the current method of one year from the time of purchase. Because the CDs were the primary source of digital security they had to cut off somewhere and that was officially 31 Dec of each year. Occasional (and often many) updates would continue to be posted online that referenced the CD until such a time as a new CD was sent to press and then the process would start all over again. The current cycle is better... although the criticism would be that it isn't as permanent. Updating a subscription ($299 initial purchase) use to cost $99 so we do save $20 on each upgrade/ and more when we realize we don't have to pay the initial or even trade show discounted price ($199). I'm moving this topic over to the Animation:Master forum so... look for it there...er... here.
