Simon Edmondson
Is it possible to edit a decal stamp ( a long time ) after it has been applied ? It is only as I get to a closeup shot that I find that there is a patch on a face cheek that the stamp missed. A bit of a clanger on my part. Rather than go back and redo it by flattening the model and starting over again, can it be done abother way ? Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you simon
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 11, 2017 Hash Fellow Share Posted December 11, 2017 In the PWS,>objects folder>under the model>Decals folder> on the decal and choose "Edit" A window opens that shows the decal, overlaid with the splines it is applied to. You can grab CPs and move them vertically or horizontally (rotating is usually messy) to make them fall under desired parts of the decal. You can have a model window and this window open simultaneously so that you can see the result of your editing live. You may need to set your A:M appearance scheme so that splines are a color that is visible against your decal.

Admin Rodney Posted December 11, 2017 Admin Share Posted December 11, 2017 A downside of the Decal Edtitor is that it won't re-decal patches that aren't already decaled. So this might not meet your immediate need.

So this might not meet your immediate need. This is true. If you need to re-stamp a decal onto the same place on a model but perhaps the mesh has been edited since or you want to include neighboring patches, you can continue down to the "Stamp" folder underneath the decal, on the Stamp for the decal and choose "Recall View/Position". This perches the decal in the correct position ready for you to "apply" again. Then you would delete the original stamp in the stamp folder. Before you do this, you need to have the window open that you originally applied the decal in. Typically that's a model window, but it is also possible to apply decals in Pose WIndows. You would need to have that Pose window open and set to whatever ON/OFF or Percentage setting you used for the decal. If you had some of the mesh hidden when you first applied the decal you will want to re hide it.
detbear
If it is a "Stamp" placement problem, you may have to "Re-stamp" it. This is why many of us set up "actions" to stamp on decals. That way you can go back to the "action" file and everything will be flattened the way it was before. Then you can adjust the CP's as needed and re-apply. I have found though, that the "recall View Position" feature doesn't always put the Image/ stamp in place where you originally had it. THAT WOULD BE A GOOD FEATURE REQUEST.......I mean a way to make sure you can get back to the original stamp view months or years later... I have found that the first attempt sometimes doesn't fully recall the view. Cancel it and do it again and it should work. And... you gotta have the correct window open.
