AMD Ryzen Threadripper: Everything we know so far about this monster CPU The specs we know Core count: 16 Thread count: 32 PCI-E lanes: 64 Memory: Quad-channel Platform: X399 Can't be "delided" easily as it uses a solder thermal interface material X399 motherboards aren't compatible with AMD's Epyc chips Release date: Summer of 2017 Yup, that’s it. If you’ve read anything else on Threadripper or “Ryzen 9,” it’s nothing but rumor and speculation at this point. it's just plain big... *A:M User* Roger Posted June 11, 2017 *A:M User* Share Posted June 11, 2017 Well Intel's top end xeons start at $1000 and go up to around $3000, so if AMD releases their 32 core cpu for anything less than $1500 they will crush the datacenter market and steal their lunch. I will be sorely tempted to buy one but will probably have to wait until they hit the used market, I imagine a new system based around a 32 core system would be at least $2500. I don't claim to understand Intel's pricing methods beyond "put the screws to the customer until he screams", that seems to be how they price their products.
