Heiner Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Hi there, i am trying to render a model with a normal map on it, but the result is not very satisfactory. I am gettin all strange square artifacts all over the model. Anyone a id4ea wher this may come from? Best regards Heiner AM_Test_0.bmp Quote
John Bigboote Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Wow- GREAT model! Are your normals all pointing out to begin with? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 11, 2013 Hash Fellow Posted September 11, 2013 After checking the normals, the next test I'd do is to set the map to render as a color map (and turn all the others off) and see if it indeed appears to be continuous and not tiled. Quote
Heiner Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 I can not find any option to display the normals, but made a test: Selected one of the patches which is obvious displaying as a artifact in the rendering and gave it a flip normal treatment. It did not change a thing. Regards Heiner Quote
Heiner Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Thats when i get when i render the Normal map as color map ... Quote
Gerry Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 There's a keyboard shortcut for hiding and showing normals, but can't find it at the moment. It's easy, like F or D or 8. I'll try to find it and let you know if someone doesn't beat me to it. Quote
Heiner Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 Haha, thanks its SHIFT + 1 found it when i switched on the "Draw" Toolbar! Cheers Heiner Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted September 11, 2013 Hash Fellow Posted September 11, 2013 SHIFT-6 will toggle backfaces ON OFF in shaded mode to make it easy to visually look for patches flipped the wrong way. Quote
