Hi there,

i am trying to render a model with a normal map on it, but the result is not very satisfactory.

I am gettin all strange square artifacts all over the model.

Anyone a id4ea wher this may come from?

Best regards

Heiner

After checking the normals, the next test I'd do is to set the map to render as a color map (and turn all the others off) and see if it indeed appears to be continuous and not tiled.

I can not find any option to display the normals,

but made a test: Selected one of the patches which is

obvious displaying as a artifact in the rendering and gave it

a flip normal treatment. It did not change a thing.

There's a keyboard shortcut for hiding and showing normals, but can't find it at the moment. It's easy, like F or D or 8. I'll try to find it and let you know if someone doesn't beat me to it.

SHIFT-6 will toggle backfaces ON OFF in shaded mode to make it easy to visually look for patches flipped the wrong way.
