Admin Rodney Posted February 16, 2013 Admin Posted February 16, 2013 Very nice! At a guess... this seems related to seam carving in a substantial way but whereas the initial tech seems to focus on a 2D plane I can see it progressing toward using the vectors to isolate/smooth/rotate the vectors in 3D space. That seems (pun intended) to be the key to bridging the gap from 2D to 3D... treating 2D elements as if they have always existed in 3D (4D?) space. Quote

Then we'd be right back to where we started... A:M splines! Quote
Simon Edmondson Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 A brief report on a vector-based codec developed for video use. No more pixels, no more resolution! http://www.redsharknews.com/technology/ite...tor-based-codec Robert That is very interesting and, should it become properly available, would revoloutinise the web and broadcast media. I reveal my ignorance when I wonder if some of that goes on in the modellers that build a polygon model from pictorial references but with the poly's replaced by vectors ? However its done that would be a definite benefit. The most impressive animation I ever downloaded off the web was less than 200k in size and featured a vector Dancer comprised of semi circle and flexible connections. It featured music, and the dancers movements could be controlled. For the file size it was phenomenal value and, of course, resolution independent. regards simon Quote
John Bigboote Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 The video looks like it could just be a spoof... looks like the find edges/smart blur filters in action. Quote
