Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 12, 2012 Hash Fellow Posted December 12, 2012 A couple of RAM sticks arrived in the mail a few days ago. I can't figure out who sent them. Quote
*A:M User* Roger Posted December 13, 2012 *A:M User* Posted December 13, 2012 Wasn't me. What kind of RAM is it? Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 13, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted December 13, 2012 A couple of DDR2 sticks. They would be exactly right to pop into the empty slots in my computer but i tried them and it couldn't get past the POST screen. Quote
pixelplucker Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Wasn't me either, double check and see if they are the right ones for your system, if so you may have to fiddle fart in the bios. Some systems that use interleaved memory won't let you mix sticks. That is really nice who ever did that though. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 14, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted December 14, 2012 All I know about them is what is on the label 2GB DDR2 600MHz PC2-6400 ...which is what I have in there now AFAIK. They appear quite generic, there's no brand name on them. Maybe it's a trick! Spies trying to get me to put some ROM thing in my computer to take control of it! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 14, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted December 14, 2012 I tried changing the RAM timing to 7-7-7 from 5-5-5 and it was able to get to the point where Windows just starts loading, but then it blue screens and starts over. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 17, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted December 17, 2012 I just noticed something odd. The package this came in is postmarked April 19, 2010. Quote

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted December 17, 2012 Author Hash Fellow Posted December 17, 2012 Fog beginning to lift... Back in 2010 I was building my present PC and bought some RAM on ebay. It never arrived and I got a refund. After the fact, I realized i had ordered the wrong RAM. I needed "unregistered" RAM and this was registered RAM. This must be that RAM and that must be why it doesn't work! I remember the tracking information for the package indicated it had gotten to some intermediate city and never left. Quote
