Trying to return to A:M...

I had drifted away from 3D in the last few years, but now I want to take another shot. I won't go through the whole story of repeated requests for Passwords and User Names that didn't work, and other attempts to contact the company. But today, the request got me a Password/Name that worked, and I'm logged in. Then I attempted to log in to the Store and update to V.17 as a returning customer. The Store declined my information saying there was no record of my e-mail address and Password. I've tried three times. The e-mail I entered was the same address to which the Password was sent, yet the A:M store can't recognize it. The Password was copied right from the e-mail and pasted into the box. It let me in to this Forum, then I went to the Store, pasted again...and the Store says "no".

If that were not enough, a line of text at the top of the Forum says my last visit was Aug.12 and the topic was "How Do I Set Up and Render DOF". Wrong. I could not get in here in Aug. Plus the author of that thread is listed as Nancy Gormanzano. ( I just checked again. Now it says I was here this afternoon, but still thinks I originated Nancy's thread. (There be strange goin's on at Hash.)

Anyway, all I want to do is update my program. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this done? Thanks.

Hey good to see you again! You made cool looking stuff!

I had some password trouble with the store last week that I had to write to jason@hash.com to get resolved.

I'll note that the forum password and store password won't be the same unless you somehow made them the same.

As far as the Store goes, you could just go like a new customer with a new account since the subscription price is the same whether you are new or old.

Does that help?

Good to see you got back in. :)

I might be able to clear up a little of the mystery perhaps...

12 August is the date that I think I first got an email from you. While I don't recall any specifics perhaps that was the day I unlocked your account.

As I recall it was locked due to multiple failed login attempts.

I never received a response from you so I thought you were logged back in and just hadn't started posting yet.

As for the last topic posted... that doesn't mean the last topic you posted.

That's the last topic posted by anybody.

Now lets get you updated!

robcat: Thanks for the kind words. Coming from a heavy hitter like you, that's high praise indeed.

When you say "I'll note that the forum password and store password won't be the same unless you somehow made them the same.", does that mean that they definitely aren't the same? It's been quite a while, but I don't ever recall having a second password. I use the same 14-char. password for everything that's not a major security concern.

I'll try to go in as a new customer but my hopes are not high. I tried to fool the system into thinking I was a new person when I was trying to get this far, but it always caught me. Since all my Hash mail goes to my Yahoo account, I tried to use my Charter account. I must have used it a few times on Hash business because the system said, "No. That account is already being used by another."

I'll give it a shot, and, in the meantime, send a copy of this to jason@hash.com

Thanks much.

Aha! The account was locked. That explains much. I sent several e-mails and never got a reply. (Of course the Labor Day weekend was in there too) But that accounts for why there was no come-back from me. So...so far, so good. Can you open the store for me? Do I need a seperate Password for it?

My superpowers only active while in the A:M forum.

As Robert suggested though any login should work for the store so it should be straightforward to set up a new account and login.

Welcome back! Like Robcat, I remember how cool your stuff was! I can say, that the improvements in A:M starting with v16 have been great.

I can at least attest to the store working on Saturday, since I updated my subscription on that day.

The store will not accept my Charter.net address as a new customer, and it won't accept my Yahoo.com address as a returning customer. Off to appeal to Jason.

In the db I can find both of your EMails with your name.

- kelley[some_numbers]@charter.net

- kelley[some_numbers]@yahoo.com

Did you try to send the password to your mail-adress? (passwords are encrypted in the DB, so I can't tell you anything about that).

See you

That might explain why I was having trouble communicating with Robert.

The forum profile had @yahoo.com (I've changed it to @charter.net until told otherwise)

(Of course that won't effect the storefront in any way)

Maybe I should have left it 'as is'?

OK, things are sorted out. I'm in at the Store, and I bought V.17

Rodney: Good call. I'd prefer that all my Hash-related mail go to charter.net

robcat/fuchur: yes, I used the "Forgot Password" button, got Passwords, but as Rodney pointed out, the account was locked.

In the matter of V.17, I now have it installed. Do I need to insert the V.15 disc to run it, or is it stand alone?

Thanks for the help.

It is standalone.
