Well This was my quick test to get a feel for A:M. No decals or stuff like that. I just wanted to play with the modeller. Learn how to join parts together etc. I know the edges around the eyes are too harsh but its a learning experience. <_>

 

I know now what not to do etc lol.

 

So about to redo him from scratch but thought I would show it anyway.

Not bad at all!

 

I'd post a pic of my first character but, thankfully it's sitting on a harddrive that isn't attached to a computer at the moment. :D

 

If you haven't seen the other posts concerning "Maintaining curvature" with the SHIFT key please take note. That will allow you to add detail to your model without damaging it in the process.

 

Can't remember... Did you say you were modeling in V10.5 or v11?

Currently 10.5 as v 11 looks alien to most of the tutorials etc.

 

Helps me get a handle on things for now.

 

The 'bits' around the eyes were deliberately modelled separately as a test to split and join into the main head. Thats why its so harsh.

Camel or not, I'd say you're not nearly as 3D impaired as you were saying you were. ;)

not too bad at all. He just needs some more lumps here and there.

 

How did you make him?

 

I did my first model the same way they made the giraffe in the manual. For my nostrils, eyes, and ears, I modeled them seperately and then attached them.

 

It may not be the best way but it worked rather well for me for my first A:M model.

 

I think if you exagerate the snout or end muzzle area (not sure what to call it) and play with the eyelids he will be awesome.

I made him by making a basic ring profile and extruding out. The nose area at the front I close by using the same procedure used in the tips of the wings in the Plane video demo.

 

Attempting number 2 but seem to be getting harsh sharp edges this time.

It looks like you're getting the hang of it, to me. Besides the eye lids, I don't see any glaring problems.

Have you played with "Distortion Mode", yet?

 

Isn't it odd how the shadow has a hole in it?
