Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 30, 2011 Hash Fellow Posted July 30, 2011 Contemporary print ads for Snow White and also for the many merchandise tie-ins. A "Snow White washing machine"... Why not? http://www.sandiegoreader.com/weblogs/big-...ys-emsnow-whit/ Quote
John Bigboote Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Great find, Rob! Good history and shows how important that film was (and is) in animation and to animators. KEEP 'EM COMIN! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 30, 2011 Author Hash Fellow Posted July 30, 2011 I wonder how many of those were authorized uses? That hat ad looks like they just shoe-horned "Snow White" into an empty spot. BTW, you can multiply Depression-era prices by about 15 to get the modern day equivalent. So, $2.25 for the soundtrack album... $33.75 ouch! Quote
R Reynolds Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I wonder how many of those were authorized uses? Considering; 1) these are mostly from newspapers in a foreign country; i.e. Canada 2) this is long before Disney or his lawyers even thought about maintaining "brand" purity he was likely more than happy to have any publicity no matter how tenuous the tie-in. Although he'd have probably winced at calling Bashful, "Smilie" . Quote
Paul Forwood Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 BTW, you can multiply Depression-era prices by about 15 to get the modern day equivalent. That would make the 10 cents entry fee for children = $1.50 today! Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted July 30, 2011 Author Hash Fellow Posted July 30, 2011 I hadn't noticed those were Canadian! I'm not sure what a $CAN vs. a $US was back then. Quote
