Nerdcore Steve
I'm making a robot and wondered what I need to do to make him metallic like the Tin Woodman. What changes do I need to make on for the surface?
HomeSlice
Well, there are a lot of things you can do, but to make it as simple as possible: Make the Specular Color white and the Specular Size maybe 25% or something. Make it Reflective. Add something in the Chor for the surface to reflect. Another way to get reflections is to apply an Environment Map to the surface to fake reflections. largento
Keep in mind that specularity will be solid if your surface is flat. So when you're making your robot, it's best to avoid large flat areas. Give them some roundness or break them up with additional details. You can also do a search for the matcap shader and use a metallic sphere image. Nerdcore Steve
Thanks guys. I was going to hold off on doing displacement decals but I think I'd better learn them to cover my robot. He's got a few big, flat, surfaces.

A grayscale map to break-up the specularity and/or reflectivity can be a good idea
