banditsgirl
I am an Animation teacher that has been using Animation Master in my classroom for 10 years. Recently my tech support department helped me to upgrade from Animation Master 98 to the 2008 version 15.5. It's a tremendous leap, that has left virtually all of my old classroom assignments and tutorials (with step by step instruction) completely obsolete. I too have found that I completely lack the understanding of the software to properly teach my students anything beyond basic model building. My problem has always been simple, our network configuration using a HASP driver has never allowed me or my students to access the basic libraries and help menus. I would love to guide my students through the tutorials that you guys have posted, but we can't do any of them without the library resources. Please help! For ten years, we've used AM to build candle sticks and robots, but we've never had the proper resources to do anything more fun. We were sold the upgrade earlier last year, and we were never given a CD for installation, it was all done on-line. Could something have been missed? Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted January 17, 2009 Hash Fellow Share Posted January 17, 2009 Welcome back to A:M! Well, we dont' want a bunch of students going away disappointed with just some candles. I dont' have personal experience with the Hasp installation, but... Can you tell me, does it result in an installation of A:M on every student's computer or does the Master.exe file just reside on a server and called by each network computer everytime they run A:M? I know on a regular installation the help file is a "master.chm" file that resides in the same directory as the "master.exe" (that's on a PC. Mac...?). Are you on Macs or PCs? here's a thread on librarie problems (it's not specific to Hasp, but it might have some info) it had this particularly interesting link about library installation if those don't help, come back and lets get some more details. And maybe someone who knows Hasp installation will pop in.

An email or two through support@hash.com should get you running smoothly but... I think we can address your issues here so the community at large can benefit. We'll be happy to help guide you to the solution. There are several things I don't know about the particular setup on your end. We'll work through that as quickly as possible. There are two primary steps in getting you connected to your Libraries: 1. Have the library and data 2. Have A:M connect to the Library The links Robert posted provide all the standard procedures most people use to connect to their libraries. Now we just have to tailor those to you. Admin Rodney Posted January 17, 2009 Admin Share Posted January 17, 2009 For anyone that doesn't have the Library data necessary for The Art of Animation:Master tutorials here is the file you need: ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/misc/LittleData.zip Its in the following directory on the Hash Inc FTP: ftp://ftp.hash.com/pub/misc/ If you download this file all that remains is to tell A:M where it is. You don't have to have the libraries to access the files however. Maybe we should cover that too.
Admin Rodney Posted January 18, 2009 Admin Share Posted January 18, 2009 (First rule of seeking help: Do not abandon your own post) I'm hearing crickets. How are you doing Ma'am? Are your Libraries connected and students happily animating new cool stuff? I hope so. If you haven't connected by now and you've downloaded the little data file. The next thing to do would be to connect A:M to it. You can find that information here or via the links Robert posted: http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=34365

Admin Rodney Posted January 19, 2009 Admin Share Posted January 19, 2009 She probably won't be back to school until Tuesday, after MLK day. What... she doesn't have internet connectivity in her home yet? How else are we gonna fix the problem before the kids return on Tuesday. Think Think. Think Think. Nope. I got nothin'. Ahem. "Ma'am, do disconnect Libraries take holidays?"
