Master chief Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 was wondering if any one had any idea about making crystals and crystal formations Quote
zandoriastudios Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Doesn't seem like it would be harder than gems... Quote
John Bigboote Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Great sample, Will. Peto- He pretty much gives all the settings for how he did it right in the image. Quote
Master chief Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 no i think he means how did he turn them into crystal , as i would like to know myself Quote
Eric2575 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I tried and came out with something less than pleasing. I used the radiosity settings above, but had no idea about light setup, how many lights, spot, klieg, AO, etc, or what properties to assign the gem. BTW, when I set the radiosity intensity to 1% I got almost no effect from it. I used 100% in the render below. Quote
petokosun Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 i think your diamond needs some advancement Eric, but its cool Quote
John Bigboote Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 I think Will did his sample back several versions of A:M ago... so you will need to test and adjust and use his settings as a starting-point as A:M has 'evolved' for the better since he created his image. Quote
Eric2575 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 This is with 50% radiosity intensity and a light direction change. Worse than before Quote
Master chief Posted June 7, 2008 Author Posted June 7, 2008 while the reflection is poor you have the look i was looking for what material did you use or what setting did you sent to give it that look Quote
largento Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Eric, try upping the Photon Samples and Sample Area. I did one with 500 for both and it smoothed things out a great deal. Quote
Eric2575 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Mark, you hit the nail on the head. Here is the result with 500/500. Thanks for the tip Quote
Eric2575 Posted June 8, 2008 Posted June 8, 2008 MC, have you got the hang of it? Lets see your render. Quote
