kylemb Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 hi ive got half a model in progress and was wondering if this was ment to be here or if i should tuck it in edit: better pic is the normal curviture ment to be there if i want to copy, flip, atatch or should i pull it in Quote
johnl3d Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 not very clear as to what you are asking the splines look like the are wrapping around to the other side which is normal unless you break them.. use the twisted arrow tool with the mouse and rotate your view and read the beginning of the manual Quote
Ganthofer Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 The splines on the left should not be there at all. The splines should end at the center line (the Y-axis). All your CP's should be either from 0 and positive in the X direction or 0 and negative in the X direction. Also, make sure that the CP's on the Center line are really on the center line and not just close. You can end up with very strange results otherwise. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted April 13, 2008 Hash Fellow Posted April 13, 2008 It looks like you deleted half your model in order to do a copy/flip/attach. It's "normal" for those splines to be there after the delete, since A:M doesn't know you are about to do a copy/flip/attach. but in your case you don't want them so break them before you do copy/flip/attach. Caroline Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 When I delete half my model, I do this: 1. SAVE the model + project 2. Select the points I want to keep. 3. Press Ctrl C to copy 4. Press Ctrl A to select all the points 5. Press <Delete> to get rid of all the points. 6. Press Ctrl V to paste It may seem complicated, but it does mean that you don't have to break the splines like you have to in this model. Try it once. You'll like it! Quote

One caveat ( i just discovered)... if you've assigned weights to the CPs you're wanting to copy and flip, the mesh you get after step 6 wont' have them anymore. You'll have to do it the old fashioned way. Quote
Caroline Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Thanks for the tip - I am still experimenting with weights, so I haven't had that problem yet, but I will remember that. I hope. Quote
