Master chief Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 ok some of my models have goten really complex so i was wondering if groups can be merged as i have like 200 on this one model and all there for is 5 differant colors Quote
KenH Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I guess you copy and pasted alot. If they're all the same name with a different number after them, then you can use the "merge and purge" plugin on this site: http://www.sgross.com/plugins/ Quote
largento Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 There are different ways to do this. One is to select the groups you want to merge, you'll see that a new untitled group will appear on the PWS. Rename that group and delete the others. Alternately (and the way I'd do it if you're wanting to merge the groups to have the same surface properties), select the groups you want to merge, hit "h" to hide everything else. Click on the group in the PWS that you want the other groups to be part of, hold down the shift button and select everything. Then delete the other groups. Quote
Caroline Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 One is to select the groups you want to merge To select multiple groups, hold the control key down and click each group to select it. Quote
phatso Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Um, sounds like we have solutions to two different problems here. If by "merge" you mean create a group to contain many of the other groups, just select the ones you want to make a new group and give it a name to make it "official." Just as you can group people by height, weight, hair color etc and some people will be members of more than one group, in A:M you can group what you've got as many different ways as you like. Groups are essentially conceptual ideas. You make groups according to purpose, and name them to identify the purpose. If by "merge" you mean eliminate the duplicate splines that come from copying and pasting, KenH has the answer. And as you do more modelling, you'll get in the habit of deleting duplicate splines before attaching CPs. Quote
