Welcome to splining!

I'm not sure what you are doing, so these are the basic steps to laying down splines:

1. Make sure you have the PWS (Project Workspace) showing - that's View Menu > Project Workspace

2. Right click Objects, left click New > Model.

3. Press the A key (or the second icon down on the right)

4. Click. Move the mouse. Click again. Move the mouse. Click again.

You should have a spline with 3 control points that you can move into a curve.

The next step is to read the Splinemanship Tutorials:

Does that work for you?

No, I am afraid I stil cannot see the little red control points.

Is there a key I have pressed by mistake or what I wonder.

It makes it very difficult to proceed!!

Thanks for the advice.

Try resetting to defaults using the help menu at the top. Maybe you've changed the color of the cps or something. This is a very un-unsual problem so, it's most likely something you've done/aren't doing. My money was on pressing the zero key. Maybe a screenshot would help. Can you see cps if you load a model from the library?

What happens if you turn on "Show bias handles"?

But, i'm guessing a graphics driver problem. Is this Vista or XP?

Maybe try going into the customize menu at the top (it's inside another menu) and in there you can set the cp size. They may be too small.

hmm, have tried that too....

looks like this may be a graphics driver problem then.

is there a solution to this? ie: does AM have a solution to this do you think?

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your card. Download and install anyway to be on the safe side. If that doesn't do it, try changing between Opengl and Directx in the options.

Check on the site for your card's manufacturer (AMD? NVidia?) see if they have a later driver than the one you have installed. Or may be they have an older one you can revert to. No guarantees, but I'd try it.

Probably not if it's a graphics driver problem. Especially since you are the first person I have ever heard of that has had that particular problem.

I am assuming you have an NVidia graphics card. They seem to give the most trouble.

The only thing I can think of is to update your graphics drivers ... or revert to older drivers ... to try and find one that plays nice with AM.
