The Making of "Fun With Cows"

Recommended Posts

In the spirit of coming clean with respect to "Intellectual Property" I would like to share the evolutionary history of Cow-A-Johnga as starring in "Fun with Cows" posted in this thread:

http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?s=&am...st&p=189202

Originally I was just going to say something like:

In the beginning Ricky the Rat begat MuthaNaycha begat Cow-A-Johnga.

But then I realized - OMG - the "borrowing" of genetic code was way more sinister than that.

My motivation was to get this project done ASAP - which clearly meant I had to steal. So of course the first waste of time was to spend 2 weeks trying to figure out how to save time.

Once I remembered that I hate rigging, hate modeling hands, and hate doing the same generic modeling (arms, legs, body) over & over, my plan of attack became clear.

(And now, it's probably best to follow along with the pictures while reading this convoluted explanation.)

Contrary to most normal procedure (for others) - I needed to start with a rigged model - my most recent model was MuthaNaycha. Not only did she have nice generic maleable splines in her face & body but she had all the mouth, eye poses (ala Jason Osipa "Stop Staring"). I had been able to do this as I had used the Soulcage mouth rig for both her mouth and eye brows.

But where did Mutha Naycha come from? Alain Desrochers' Ricky the Rat of course. He had nice generic splines as well.

But where did this odd creature new age fusion man-cow thing come from?

Well not only do I have a thing about pigs, I also seem to be fixated on cows (am I revealing too much?)

When I started with A:M (ver 7.1) I did a nice pink cow - Mama Moo - and later on I did a B&W cow which descended from the splines of Hash's Putty Mutt (Thom used to be Putty Dude I believe).

And then for some unknown reason MamaMoo & BWcow begat SpaceCowGirl - note carefully her charming visage.

We always knew at some point SpaceCowGirl would need to breed also. The time was ripe. What better than with Hash's Clown off the 2001 CD?

And thus a ManCowClown was born. And his name was John. And he wore glasses stolen from KuKlip (TWO project)

(more credits to come)

EDIT - Forgot to add that John's rig is a modified Hash 2001 rig, with additions for heel lifts by Mark Skodacek - mtpeak2 and some of my own rigging for dynamic udder (thanks to studying John BigBoote aka Matt Campbell babes)& dynamic tail, and head pointing.

Not only did I steal genetics - I stole textures from previous projects. One background also was based on a physical model that Cirque du Soleil is selling. Now that really might be stealing.

And of course there is the image of Johnl3d being used (definitely without his permission).

AND the absolutely worstest of sins is that I stole the music from the web of a sample of the Wiggles tune "I'm a Cow".

and the Jerry Lewis voice clip at the end is from daily wave web site.

If it's any consolation, my just desserts for these sins will be that I would never be able to distribute this work.

Heh heh. I had my fun.

And so the case is solved. Solved by none other than the perpetrator, no less. How so very ironic. The FBI will be at your door soon Nancy. Thank you for you co-operation. It will lead to a reduced sentence.

and even more stealing that I just remembered - the teeth are from "HER" off the Hash 2004? CD. And the eyeballs are modified (simplified) from someone's generic model - which I can't remember - maybe Colin's? uber eye?

It's really tricky to change when stealing has become such a rewarding way of life.

John no one has any photos of me. Maybe because I don't have any friends? That's always been a mystery to me.

Ohhhh! How could I have forgotten the most important plagarism of them all!

From the GREAT JOHNL3D website:

http://johnl.inform.net/pages/10material11.htm

Yes! I used John's Misty Exploding Sprites from the Hash CD project almost verbatim for the blowing up of John's head in the beginning titles.

Appropriate, doncha think?

(I know, I know - Enough with the confession crap already - Feeling a little queasy, are we?)
