Stuart Rogers Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 selecting five points doesn't always trigger the five point tool. i have to select the five points again and again to trigger the five point tool.I've been seeing this too. I found that if I hide everything in the model except the five points (and maybe some surrounding points) it seems to greatly improve the chance of getting the five-point button made available. I don't know if it helps, but I also usually rotate the model such that the five point patch is in the plane of the screen. Quote
cindylyoung Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 I've had the same problem but have recently discovered that if you shift-click all five points and then re-shift-click the 1st point, the 5-point patch button will become available-- not every time but it helps. Quote
Joe Gamblin Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Yeah, I'm working on something right now and they just won't take. The weird thing is that I have matching patches on the other side and I had no problem. Here's a reference if anyone wants to help. Quote
KenH Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Yeah it's probably the hooks. If not that, it's the weird five point patches at the front. You might have to convert those into two four pointers and two three pointers. Ther'd be less creasing too. Quote
Kelley Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Maybe this is why the manuals steer us clear of 5-point patches. Quote
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted June 4, 2006 Hash Fellow Posted June 4, 2006 Disconnect teh hooks going into the 5-pointer first then select all five points hit the period key twice the 5-point tool will appear. use it then reattach hooks into 5-pointers if you have to. looks like bad spline continuity here: [attachmentid=17194] splines should cross each other rather than meet and turn away.
