3DArtZ Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 So, I decided to continue working on the make believe "Incredibles" model I built insead of the caped character from which this one came.... I'm going to rig him up over the next few days, and post here. anyhows, one more leg to go http://www.vrcops.com/Vids/WGIncr7A.mov ps... anyone have a problem with the whole fake incredibles thing... I guess I'm gonna change the logo a little, maybe flip it upside down, like an exclamation point? Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
pixelmech Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 TBH Mike, I liked your design better. I really think the model loses something as an Incredibles character. Just my .02 - and I miss the cape - even though Edna with NOT approve! Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 2, 2005 Author Posted June 2, 2005 Well, not to hammer myself, but the other model wasn't my design either. That first model with the cape is a "whataburger" character. It's like a hamburger joint in texas and cali.... Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
Mr. Jaqe Posted June 2, 2005 Posted June 2, 2005 Nice! But... it must kinda hurt to have your thumb sticking inside your belly Kinda agree with Tom, the original design, don't matter if it was yours or not, looked a little better. Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 3, 2005 Author Posted June 3, 2005 Tom I just got the Edna Joke!!! VEry funny! Tom and Jage... Well, I'm gonna finish rigging this fo incredibles guy.... Wouldn't take much to switch the rig out to the other guy when done... or just change the colors back... Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
Bruce Del Porte Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 I have to agree, it stands on it's own very well. Unless you have an Incredibles parody in mind (it would be perfect), let him be his own Super. BTW, Bob didn't have a hood, just a mask. Quote

I mean we already have the Space Character from Toys on the Hash CD.... Thanks for the reply Bruce Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
Admin Rodney Posted June 3, 2005 Admin Posted June 3, 2005 But it might be fun to build a Mr.Incredible KenH built one. He's on the current CD. Shhhh... I didn't tell you that. I'm enjoying seeing your changes with your current character. Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 4, 2005 Author Posted June 4, 2005 and a close up... http://www.vrcops.com/Vids/WGIncrA1.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
steve392 Posted June 5, 2005 Posted June 5, 2005 Thats graet ,the shoulders move very well and a good looking model ,Im gonna have to get your cd Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 7, 2005 Author Posted June 7, 2005 Hey Steve, thanks for the reply! Here is some progress with the rig. Still some work to do, but just testing how things are behaving at this point. quick and messy walk cycle test http://www.vrcops.com/Vids/Walkit5A1.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
strohbehn Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I like the appeal of this character, Mike. He looks like he'd be fun to animate. Looks like your rigging is up to par as well... nice deformations. You said this is just a quick and messy walk cycle, so take this for what it's worth... his hip needs to drop a bit on the side of the lifted (passing) leg, not raise. The way it is now gives him an unnatural sway. Does this mean you've solved the distortion box issues you were having? I'm curious to hear an update on that. Nice job. Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 7, 2005 Author Posted June 7, 2005 Hey Mark thanks abour the hip thing. As far as the distortion box.... unfortunately I've heard nothing back from the hash guys. I think that Bob C. has been assigned the problem. There is nothing I can do to fix it, as it is a programming issue. I hope that DBoxes can get ironed out, they should play a huge role in character set up.... everything from lip shapes to joints could be easily set with Dboxes... Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 7, 2005 Author Posted June 7, 2005 Okay! One more hand left to do, then onto the lip shapes and other face stuff! http://www.vrcops.com/Vids/Walkit5B1.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 8, 2005 Author Posted June 8, 2005 More fun with the hands! Just testing before I commit to setting up the left side of the model. http://www.vrcops.com/Vids/Walkit6A1.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 8, 2005 Author Posted June 8, 2005 quick test with both hands working! http://www.vrcops.com/Vids/Punchit1.mov Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
strohbehn Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Mike, GREAT deformations! Is the rig identical to your POMcKnuckles rig? Did you end up smartskinning at all, or is this pure "cog joint / mesh design" magic? Keep posting your progress. Quote
3DArtZ Posted June 9, 2005 Author Posted June 9, 2005 Hey Mark, thanks for the reply. No smartskin at all. The whole system is cogs, for the most part identical to the system in McKnuckles. I had to make a couple changes in certain areas like the torso as it is a little wierdly shaped. Thanks Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
