DarkLimit
Hi guys I created this scene for fun, based on a little experience I had a few years back... *** Ever found urself in the wrong place at the wrong time? not a good feeling.. Sometimes it just best to turn right around and run!! Sang was hungry and went looking for food in a rough area of the ocean..Bumped into daddy!!! and baby worms and realized his stay should be short!!! *** I wanted a dramatic feel so I used a limited colour palette / textures and design... The bobbles were done by hand cuz my system can't handle particles... Done with A:M / The Gimp.... thanks for your feedback!!

Admin Rodney Posted May 11, 2005 Admin Share Posted May 11, 2005 DL, That is a winner! There is no need to guess what is going through Sang's mind... "Get me the heck outta here!" One small crit: The image is a bit blurry especially on the left. This would be better if it was motion blur but it appears to be an area blur. Great stuff! KenH
Just don't make eye contact! Nice Image Robert....I like the use of light in it and the murkey background. Of course the fish too! I think the left side is abit bare and could use a sunken galleon or some such thing. Keep it up!
DarkLimit
Thanks for the feedback Rod and Ken... Rod : I added motion blur to the fish, not sure why that side looks blurred.. maybe the settings a bit to high... Ken : thanks I will add a few things in the foreground and background... ~DL~
frankH
that poor fellow!! A great emotional picture, perfect balance between scary and a smile. Greetings Frank
higginsdj
Looks interesting but my first question is - What is the little fish scared of? The large worm has red eyes but what is really menacing about it or the situation? Is he going to get thumped or eaten? Other than this I like the shot and the composition but agree you need to make the water look more like water - perhaps some caustic effects! Cheers
Admin Rodney Posted May 11, 2005 Admin Share Posted May 11, 2005 DL, Just thought of another simple thing that might add to the scene. For contiuity between "Daddy" and the worms you might tint the worms eyes pinkish or a mild red. Something to further tie them together. You've done this with the one worm with his headdress. Doing something subtle like tinting the eyes might press that further. Feel free to discard any criticism or advice though.
DarkLimit
I have updated my scene based on some of the feedback u guys gave me... Am not after realism here just to tell a story... Rod : I tinted the baby worms eyes and I think it looks better thanks alot... higginsdj : I wrote a little story in my first post... **updates** - tweaked ocean floor - tinted baby worms eyes - added a starfish - tweaked the lighting a bit - added a tongue to my fish ................... thanks for all ur critz and help.. higginsdj
I read the story - but my point is - will the image hold up without the need to explain it? Cheers
Roughy
seems quite obvious, if ya cant understand what the story is by looking at the pic then.....well then you should probably consider taking kindergarten over again, lotsa picture books! higginsdj
Perhaps obvious to those more recently out of kinder! Cheers
Roughy
hmmm. picture books would be the basic of the basic...so i would think that would be the other way around. but seriously though. fish running away in panic (fish that happen to eat worms), two child worms and a huuuge gigantic one with red eyes (obviously evil) after him. asking "what is he running away from" is kind of a dumb thing to ask.. higginsdj
Sorry but big with red eyes does't sell 'mean and threatening' to me - where's the emotion? Might I humbly suggest some work around the eyes to give the worm a pronounced scowl! Cheers
DarkLimit
Here is a final render of my worm scene.. Am very happy with the mood and overall appearence... *** I tone the lights way down... added some dust.... tweaked the Daddy worm eyes a bit.. tweaked the ocean bed.. *** Thanks to all for ur help and comments... thanks to #hash....
