johnl3d Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Saw something like this the other day on the forum so I threw this together tonight. It as usual a little rough but it presents the idea at least what I remembered. blowaway.mov Quote
johnl3d Posted March 16, 2005 Author Posted March 16, 2005 okay here's the project file 11.1d+ remember this is a rush job so you should be able to improve on it with very little effort the spots.tga is on the CD its one of the particle sprites in the material folder and so its not included since i didn't zip Had to post something to keep up with John K. blownaway.prj Quote
NancyGormezano Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 again & again & again - very very interesting - how did ya do it? (it is so great to watch & learn from your mastery of special effects - thanks again) EDIT: Never mind - I see the project file has been posted Quote
KenH Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Oooo....that's real nice! Perfect for the Mummy epic I'm planning! Quote
higginsdj Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 Very cool. I assume that I can set it so the 'particles' can drop rather than blow away - nice after effect to a disrupter weapon perhaps Cheers Quote
johnl3d Posted March 17, 2005 Author Posted March 17, 2005 thanks Nancy er Ken ? dj ..yes you can do anything you want with the sprites right now the chor force is obviously set to the right with a minimal downward pull Quote
Sevenar Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 John: Now that's just COOL. Thanks for sharing! Sev Quote
Sevenar Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Ok, I'm dense. What exactly is happening? Are you just animating between two textures, one solid and one a sprite emitter? Quote
N86 Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 Any chance of a still image of what this is? Please. -N86 Quote
Sevenar Posted March 17, 2005 Posted March 17, 2005 It's a model of a vase dissolving into particles and blowing away in the wind. Quote
johnl3d Posted March 18, 2005 Author Posted March 18, 2005 okay i was going to do a still..but noticed that the sprite data had not been saved properly so i threw this together and tested it and it is now saved ablownaway.prj Quote
johnl3d Posted March 18, 2005 Author Posted March 18, 2005 oh and heres the still done in 12 so i could output a jpg As to what is happening I used two gradient combiners one with up and down and left to right pose sliders to set rate vase disappears and cause the slant. another gradient was used to give the material change which I noticed is a little bit off but as i posted earlier it can be tweaked the sprite emitter is on three groups and start in theory to look as if each parts is crumbling into dust the emission rate is controlled in the time line ( and even saved properly this time) remember i only get about 2-3 hours on AM a night so most things i post are rough Quote
N86 Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 Thanks. I just wanted to see the effect without having to download the animation. Finally downloaded it. Wasn't at home for awhile, so didn't have my broadband. Nice work. Quote
Dagooos Posted March 18, 2005 Posted March 18, 2005 hey john That may be your wickedest effect yet! Quote
