  1. Uh ... wow!
  2. Actually, I noticed the same thing once I placed the character in the scene. The chair was way to big so I'm shrinking it down by about 25%.
  3. The opening views of this animation will be close-up panning across the bookshelves. Because of this, I'm focusing more on the books' textures. I made the following texture by scanning my genuine leather Bible, grayscaling the image, and then a levels adjustment to make the majority of the map be 50% gray ("level" for A:M's bump maps). I then imported the image into A:M as a circular projection map set to bump -100 (instead of inverting the colors in PS). I think it turned out pretty well. What do you think? Now I just need to place the book titles.
  4. Actually, all the wood textures use the same material.
  5. A bunch of new things completed! Made lighting color more white Lightened inside of fireplace Applied brick color and bump map to fireplace Changed lamp stand colors to black Adjusted lamp shades for color and glow Remodeled end table legs Changed ceiling and two lamp lights to cast two rays each (but left track lighting at one ray) Added fill light for better lighting Bulbs in track lighting recessed Removed extra lights from track lighting Cut holes in backs of track lights (which you really can't see) Oak paneling (very nice touch!) Books on right bookshelf Sound System module Globe model (right bookshelf) Mug (mantle) Teapot (fireplace) Big picture (with a canvas bump map applied) Next to complete: Titles on books Mantle accessories (key elements from all my past Year in Review productions) Pictures in picture frames More chairs for later animation Model remote control I'm almost done with the room! Soon, I can start on the animation. At my calculations, if RenderMuscle is available to render this animation, sticking ten computers on this animation will take about a month to render the whole estimated five minutes. I'll probably be asking for additional help.
  6. Yeah, that looks more stable now.
  7. Great job! The windows look a little strange to me. Their layered style appears as if the middle portion is stationary while both the top and the bottom panes can slide up or down. A window that size wouldn't usually open, so I recommend make the window one flat pane rather than the layered panes like you have.
  8. Again ... WOW! This is the kind of stuff Hash Inc. should include in their brochures! The quality seems even better than Toy Story!
  9. I agree with Kyle. I also think it looks a little to "weak" to balance sturdy enough for a candle (this wouldn't pass fire code). But I like the model! It's a really nice candle stand. In fact, you should see about getting them produced.
  10. Like maybe all the wood stuff is fancy molding and here's this table with 4-point straight extruded legs? Thanks, Yves, for pointing that out. I know that I can easily remove six lights. Look just above the track lights. That little highlight is added with another bulb. Do you think that should be removed?
  11. I have a feeling that any grunge will further increase render times. But I would like to know your suggestions. I already did basic things like crooked books and slight-misaligned picture frames.
  12. Dane Walker has composed several versions of the theme for me. A fanfare, this "gentle" version, and even a whole two-minute piece. I consider this version the more professional and will use it until I realize my fun ideas. The "upside-down check mark" is just part of my logo.
  13. I wanted to bump this because I never heard back from all ye who were having audio problems. I resaved the animation using a different audio codec and I'd like to make sure it works. I'm also looking for comments on the music that I can pass along to Dane Walker, the composer.
  14. WOW! I'd love to do that with my room scene, but render times are already way too high at 1.5 hours per frame.
  15. Thanks for catching that, Hutch! As of last night: Changed: Fire lighting effects! End table model (complete with drawer) More lighting adjustments (mainly turning off the fill lights, but I may turn these back on) Door handle modification (but you can't see it in this render) Changed ground color to same as walls Fixed wood molding on tops of windows and door Still to do (bold items hopefully in next update) Consider wall color change Possible better carpet texture Adjust lampshades to look more realistic Add light inside fireplace to remove shadow and make more realistic Possible color change to the lamps' bases Books on the right bookshelf Titles on books Mantle accessories (key elements from all my past Year in Review productions) Pictures in picture frames Model remote control Improve TV model (maybe) What are your opinions on the lamps' bases? The red looks awkward. I'm thinking about black, gold, silver, or maybe something else. Suggestions?
  16. Talking with the graphic designer who created the logo, we both agreed that there's room for some character animation in this. The swash and sphere could be seen as the right arm and head of some abstract character. The actual purpose of this change was to make a straight-on 3D render to replace their older logo on hundreds of their presentation images. Renders such as the above are more for eye candy.
  17. I'm very disappointed with puZh. I thought it would let me easily adjust bevels by thining the extra splines, but that was not the case. So I had to manually adjust all the CPs to get a decent bevel. I have adjusted the lighting, the environment map, and the bevels. I know that the last part of "Genesis" is kind of hard to ready, but that can be fixed with camera angle or some more lighting tweaks.
  18. Except that spider webs are usually not black.
  19. I'd like to know how you're making the flame lighting effect on the room.
  20. That looks great! How are you doing candle flames? Particles? Will the candles affect the room lighting in some way?
  21. Latest renders: Change log Adjusted lighting Door handle and working mechinism Removed shelf from bookshelves and spaced Added bookshelf molding TV and TV Cabinet Books on left bookshelf Oak cow sculpture on left bookshelf
  22. BTW, I would prefer a red brick fireplace, but I can't find a good texture and I don't want to model the bricks myself. Anyone know of or have a great brick material?
  23. In fact, they already have a logo sequence similar to that idea, but the globe is a background, not an part of the logo.
  24. Oh yeah! I'm financially benefiting from their betterness today. PIXR up $6.57 to $86.51 today. Really quite good considering an average purchase of $64. Viva Pixar!
