  1. i search and didn't find any do's and don't on this feature. should be listed in the feature page. I remember that it does work with painted decal.

The SSS quit out on me and now rendering black. I think it could be a memory problem! It now shows up black in the preview mode. no settings were change after I got the SSS working for a minute after 2 passes.

I have 1.5 gig memory, but I am doing other stuff mostly web searches.

  2. Rusc,

What kind of decals or materials do you have assigned to those areas (if any)?

I have skin color material using cell turb

when I strip it it didn't work, however I use another model that never had a material and I think its working. I think that may be the issue that SSS doesn't work with material

The first pass work! no black spot!

  3. I have the same problems and all the normal facing correctly.

I started a thread on this last week, still waiting for support.

    intel dual core 3 ghz

    window xp/home edition

    ati radeon 9800 latest driver

    Hash AM: ver 15

I tried the same project with one thread enable under system management setting affinity to 1 cpu

    multi pass to 16

  4. Nixie!

so I take it that you have dual core and got v15 to show SSS and hair particles with your method?

I talk to Taco, and he said that it renders on the last pass. I change the lights to sun and 16 passes, and seem to be rendering. However it does not show up under quick render.

I am really asking suggestion on how to set SSS under ver 15, and I haven't heard from support as of yet. What light am I suppose to use? is it only just sun type? If anyone has a project file of it working to test my system, I would appreciate it.

  5. If your going to attempt this, then what you would be looking for is minimal mesh and in quads form. I have not been very successful in importing them to AM, and frankly saved more time just to model it. I think it is far easier to just get a rendered rotoscope of the model you want to have and then make it yourself. I have had success in modeling in AM and then exporting it to another program. The beauty of AM is the animation, and how you model it for that purpose is essential. For best success in animation, requires you to model it in AM:

  6. I think to make the paper burn more realistically you will need to get the fire coming from the edges of the paper you intend to be burning, rather than just from the motorcycle.

Is it possible to use an animated image map to control where particles are coming from? I'd look into that.

The hand gestures don't seem to be very "George Bush". Look at some news conference footage and see what he does.

It took me 2 whole day of rendering the 91 frame of flame for each scene. I composite the rest into the flame. The flame at that isn't realistic. I have tubes of the flame running along the edge of the burning part and it doesn't seem to registered that part at all. I don't know if anyone tried to burn paper with particles? I love to see it done well. I would love to see the paper actually rip apart as real paper do.

  7. I totally miss your concept.

I thought you were making a film making kit for little red riding hood. I thought everything on that page was a film kit. I went back and read everything from the first page. Now that I am caught up. I do think what you are doing has open some eyes on the approach for one man to do it all.

  8. How is it now?

I knew that I would get a political rant, but lets head it off here. I am a liberal and thats all there is to it. I know we started on the gas prices, but you can go to the off topic and rant there. I just want to make a Bush impressionist piece for the animation skill set and do it with humor. It's one thing to animate, but another to try to capture the heart of the person action. I regret that I don't have Bush voices, as I would have like to add laughter and another comment, such as "now watch this drive". But to use what they actually said and use it for another scene is even better. I couldn't find a wave file for the "Now watch this drive" part. so this is it.

  9. A lot better :D but I'm sure we could still find points for you to work on :P

I am so sick of Bush voice, but I would like to hear your critique, for this or the next time. I think next time I would add a few more facial control, such as the deep furrow frown look. and the pushed in squinty eye look like he staring at the sun. I should of study other people impression of Bush before setting up the pose slider for the face. But from what I have seen on youtube, its mostly stiff CG animation or south park cartoon animation. I think I should of bobble his head more and have him not look down at the bike.

Okay, one more time! I get back to ya!

  10. We are actually running out of fossil fuel, and they stop making refinery because in the 70 was the peak of production, and because of Jimmy Carter we sustain the supply a little longer. It is predicted that if we keep going the way we are that we won't have enough for everyone in 15 years. I know your from Michigan, as I was from, and the car industry hype is very strong there. This war we have with the Iraq has triple our cost for the barrel. When there is less gas in the world all the prices of gas goes up, whether you get fuel from other country or not. Can the world sustain the level of green house effect even if we have enough fossil fuel to live by? I don't think so, as too many indication of the living system shutting down. Water will be the next goldmine of the future.

  11. I am very curious to see how well your doing, as Hash lowered the price for the program, I am sure there will be a bigger base to buy model and set, like they do for Poser. But using a better program for animation. I think this alternative is better for just learning to animate and at an affordable cost. What rigging system are you using for the character?

  12. I get about 70 miles per gallon with my little Honda (reference to the song "my little Honda" scooter advertisement) Aero 50cc

I haven't had a car in a year now, and can't believe people pay this much already. $100 per year on insurance on the Honda(that's 2 tankful for most folks).

This animation made me realize that I need to keep at it. Not happy with the arm movement.
