I tried your project and the sounds reads but the scrubbing is sticky and unusable in V19.
That is interesting and different from what I got.
What I found was that I could play the sounds individually from the Sounds folder. I also could "Play" the chor and they would both be heard.
But if I scrubbed in the chor, only the portions of the two WAVs that overlapped each other in the timeline would be heard. One WAV won't play, but two that overlap will.
The odd thing is that this behavior happens now even in old versions of A:M like v15, where I don't recall this ever being a problem. I think something has changed about Windows to cause the existing sound code to not work.

You know, I always wondered: what exactly is a Totoro?
I thought it was a proper name, but no...
QuoteWhat does Totoro mean in English?trollTotoro actually comes from Mei mispronouncing Tororu, which means troll in Japanese. This comes from a book Mei had read, which turns out to be the traditional Norwegian troll story Billy Goats Gruff, as can be seen in the end sequence which contains mother and that book.but the Totoro in the movie doesn't look much like a troll. -
In an animation class about "overlapping motion" I recall they showed a very interesting slow-mo of how vehicles stop. After the wheels stop, the body continues moving forward slightly, then loops down and back up to its resting spot. The vertical element is most pronounced at the front of the vehicle and least so at the back.

That looks interesting, shame it's unlikely to be in my area.
If it is staged on Broadway and makes a splash, I bet it will probably get a national touring company.
I have no prediction what the American appeal will be, however.

Has just won six Olivier awards, the British version of a Tony Award. I presume one of them was "Fewest Mouthshapes"
QuoteThe 1988 Japanese animated film My Neighbour Totoro is a modern classic, about two girls who move to the countryside and encounter troll-like spirits who draw them into a mystical realm, said Dominic Cavendish in The Daily Telegraph. This world-premiere stage version is already a “monster” box-office smash for the RSC; and it’s a pleasure to report that it fully lives up to the hype.

It's possible to do day-for-night well and possible to do day-for-night badly.
Most of the "night" in Lord of the Rings was artificial but it looks right...
But when I sample that white van in PS it seems to be absolutely neutral gray with no hint of blue in the light falling on it.
-
Keep the artificial lights yellowish, but make the environment light bluish. And less sharp shadows from the environment light...
-
Blue. Blue is movie code for "night".

Sound has been a problem lately.
Try this PRJ and tell me what happens.
Try playing the WAVs in the sound folder.
Try playing the Chor.
Try scrubbing the timeline in the Chor.
-
Hooray!
I enjoyed your movie!

Hi @strato , first check your account at the store as described in this post and see if there is a serial key listed for your purchase.

In yet another sign of the Apocalypse, someone has invented a shape that can be tiled with itself, but will not create repeating patterns.
Elusive ‘Einstein’ Solves a Longstanding Math Problem
Quote...an einstein is an “aperiodic monotile,” a shape that tiles a plane, or an infinite two-dimensional flat surface, but only in a nonrepeating pattern. (The term “einstein” comes from the German “ein stein,” or “one stone” — more loosely, “one tile” or “one shape.”) Your typical wallpaper or tiled floor is part of an infinite pattern that repeats periodically; when shifted, or “translated,” the pattern can be exactly superimposed on itself. An aperiodic tiling displays no such “translational symmetry,” and mathematicians have long sought a single shape that could tile the plane in such a fashion. This is known as the einstein problem.

There are two very unusual things in this video.
One is the concept of a pink so intense it can only be experienced in person.

Looks like trouble... for someone!

Here's how I think it could work...
You have a plane with a circle on it that is relationshipped to change radius depending on how far along the Z axis it is.
You place the center on any point you want to make an arc for and it sizes the circle for you.
You have a clear piece of plexiglass over your monitor and scratch away with the circle as your guide for compass center and distance.
When you're done you paint the back of the plexiglass black.
-
This guy shows a process for creating holographic images manually... by scratching plastic?
He admits to difficulty in creating truly 3D shapes, but other people do it well.
I'm wondering... Could A:M somehow be used simplify/streamline the planning for this?

Oh Yeh and QuickTime isn' t available in amv19.
I rendered that file in v19!
You have to install 32-bit v19.
Copy the master0.lic file from your 64-bit A:M to your 32-bit A:M to activate it.
-
That is first-class work, Michael!
Happy St. Pat's to you, too! -
If I render just one minute of pendulum, the resulting AVI plays fine. There may be some general problem with large AVIs.
-
Try playing this...
-
To test, I made a 3 minute animation of a pendulum doing 1 beat per second.
If I render to AVI, the first 30 seconds are messed up but the rest looks normal.
If I render to Quicktime, it all looks correct. (I chose "Animation" as the Codec)
If you still have Quicktime installed, you can render to QuickTime from 32-bit A:M. I think most video editing apps will still recognize QuickTime files.

revisiting Picasso

Pablo Picasso died 50 years ago and there are a spate of articles and exhibitions re-visiting him.
WaPo: How good, really, was Pablo Picasso?
"The exemplary modern artist died 50 years ago this month, and we’re still trying to clean up his mess"
NYTimes: Picasso: Love Him or Hate Him?
"Fifty years after the artist’s death, a critic wrestles with her mixed feelings. "
Here is an excerpt from "The Mystery of Picasso" (1956) where you get to see him sit in his underwear and create masterpieces in semi-real time...
This 1911 article is the first mention of him I can find in the NYTimes. Notice that he is already "Picasso", no further background expected to be necessary.
