  1. Just to let you know that I can't make it on the 12th as I have a gig then. The gig is at Eel Pie Island: http://gackland.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/mergahome/msgigs.html Sorry for the plug. I had to get it in somehow,
  2. Feb=fab.... particularly as I had it in my head that we were going to meet on the 29th of this month which was yesterday and I got that sinking feeling like when you forgot your sports kit at school.
  3. Nice model. One thing that strikes me though is that the curve of his profile is a little straight. Try moving his head and legs backwards - perhaps his shoulders too. At the moment he looks a little hunched as if he is stressed out.
  4. There is often an austerity in your work which I find most admirable. The hair has a wonderfull soft translucency to it which is quite hard to capture in any medium I find. Are you making the hair transparent all along its length?
  5. Have you tried reading This? You will be vomiting blood!
  6. [deleted] (Rather reluctently - all things considered - wondering what the world is coming to.)
  7. I think that some kind of brushed metal effect on the letters would be good.
  8. Nice gorilla! I want to give hima big hug.
  9. I would agree that it is a very good model. I would be pleased with it if I were you. Bare in mind that the referece photo is quite odd. There is a lot of make-up and lighting going on there. I should think that it would be very hard to get a good impression off the same face without some judiciouse texturing. I am thinking particularly of the cheek bones and around the eyes. Notice also how the lips are over-painted with lipstic. Using a group for colouration would not suffice there as the colour doesn't follow the modelling. In terms of the modelling (which is looking pretty good), the only area which really sticks out for me is the nose - really just the nostrils which need to be enlarged a little. It is surprising how much a part of the characer of a face the nostrils can play. Looking forward to seeing more.
  10. you know he works for Pixar right? No!... Really? Just kidding. Actually, I think Victor is probably sick of that little joke by now.
  11. Beautifull! The expression on his face when he starts to accelerate backwards is priceless. You know, you might get picked up by some big company one day.
  12. You can get a day return super-saver for about a tenner... or at least you could - but they put the prices up recently so I dunno. I might try and combine it with a trip around London (the underground pass costs little more if you include it with the ticket).
  13. That must have been a lot of work! and well worth it! I watched it several times and its going on my hard drive.
  14. Amazing! Acting, lighting modelling and everything good... all good! The only thing that I would say is that the boys eyebrows loose a little volume here and there but I don't know if that is bad... all bad.
  15. There is a reflection distance setting on it. But I'm not sure what this filter stuff is your talking about. If it wasn't in 8.5 I'm a noob. :-) The reflection filter is there for getting stronger colours in reflections. Say you have a pure red object. If you set the filter to 100% then you can boost the reflectance to 100% and still get a red object (wheras before it would go silver). What is happening is that the surface is filtering out all but the red colour. If the object is surrounded by scenery that has no red in it then there will be no reflection and the object will appear black. This woul be rare though and more commonly you will end up with a nice juicy redness. If you look at Chirsmass ball-balls then they are a good example of this. I don't know if I explained that well - I couldn't find the link to the proper explanation. Anyway, hope it helps.
  16. Hey Wegg, They look real nice! Looks like you have been working on getting the best out of the renderer. Have you used the reflection filter on the gold?
  17. South hill park is a great place and not to far for me but it may be a little far for the others. I don't know if it has a room that we could used but you never know. Last time everyone went by train. Bracknell is easy to get to from London by train but how far away is south hill park from the station? I should contact the Kingston theatre to see if we could use it but I expect that it will be cold at this time of year as they are still £6 000 000 off completing it (all the money goes to London). This could mean that it would be rather chilly at this time of year.
  18. Oh.... I didn't know there was music. I had the sound off. Ooops!
  19. Actually, I have a little crit. When the guy in red gets kicked back he just kind of lands when I would expect him to stumble back a little. This would make it look a little more gritty. I guess there might be action pacing issues and things but that was my observation anyway.
  20. That animation was fantasic (of course). It has a nice balence between realisitic and cartoony. I like the squash and stretch ( like when the guy in black kicks the guy in red in the Niagra, and when he realises that he is about to eat fist sandwhich). The style reminds me a little of the test animations from Osipas book but there is definitely something else going on here.
  21. He looks like he is just bursting full of animation energy. I can't wait to see him moove.
  22. Hey Jim, nice to see some work from you again. He he. With that voluminous hair she is starting to resemble Maggy Thatcher in her prime. There is a nice soft look to the shadows. Are you using z-buffers these days? And I like the way that you have the hair coming down in a V at the centre of her forehead. How did you control the hair line like that?
