Thanks Tommy - I can see the lids on the parrot, but look at this pic of the Tucan, it's hard to tell where the lid would come out from...

Hi Dhar - not quire sure yet, was just trying to line up an artist. Still thinking about the character - working on one now, so it will be my next one. I want it to be a person though - need practice modelling a human face - but I definately want it cartoon style - not photorealistic.
-
Also, does anyone know if a Tucan blinks? I am looking at all the pics and not really seeing any eyelids? Kinda odd, I guess I never thought about it.

Tucan update... I got his head, wings, and part of body done - playing around w/ feather too.

Scott - thank you, that would be it. It was under

I am refreshing my memory with the online Ref Manuel for Hair/Fur
http://www.hash.com/Technical_Reference/v110/Hair.htm
They refer to "Stiffness" below - I am just not seeing that setting in the Hair System or Hair Emitters properties
"Stiffness: Controls how stiff or ridged each hair strand is. The stiffer the value the less affect dynamics and forces such as gravity has on the hair. This value is a percentage to adjust all the child Hair Emitter's Stiffness values."
Has it been changed or located somewhere else in v14?

Hi Djbreit - thanks for your reply, but I think you misunderstood what I was asking for. I'm not just starting out - I've been working w/ the program for a few years, and have gotten generally comfortable with modelling - I was looking for an artist that could draw a character to my description that I could use as a rotoscope to create the character. For example, one of the human characters from Ratatoulle - I just can't draw like that, or even close.
Thanks - Eric

Hi Rodney and John, thanks for the compliments - I have been doing website design for about 8 years-

I used the general layout of my website design for the 3D site.

Can anyone recommend an artist for hire that could draw a character (front & side) that could be used as a rotoscope? I have to search the internet for pics when I create a character, since my drawing skill is limited to a bad stick figure. It really limits me to what I can create.
Thanks - Eric

Just finished rendering the short anim for the gorilla model and stuck it up on my site w/ the 360 and some final images. Thanks again for answering all my forum posts while working on it. It's the 3rd model over on the top.

Nathan - I appreciate your advice - that is the kind of thing I need to concentrate more on now that I am getting the modelling thing down a bit. Have a great weekend. -E

Hey Marcos - nothing like making an idiot out of myself in front of hundreds. Let's try this again - here is a wireframe image of the TUCAN. I actually did know it was a Tucan... I promise.

Hi - after a few character models, I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of this program.... sort of
I only have his beak done, but I thought I would post my progress as I go along, so I could get any suggestions from anyone to improve it.
Thank
Eric

Perfect - I knew someone might know.

Hi - my next practice model is going to be a Tucan, and I have searched all over for pictures - and found some great ones, but can't seem to find any with their mouths open, to where I could see what the inside of their mouth looks like. Any Tucan experts out there. Does anyone happen to know if they have a short, small or long skinny tongue? Any good pic links would be appreciated.
There was this link - it looks like a long skinny tongue, but not sure if it was something he was eating...
Thank you - Eric
