  1. Here's a cat I've been working on. He'll be looking as real as I can do. He's just being made down to his skin right now so try to picture him with some hair. Also the shinyness is just so I can see lumps better to work them out. It'll be taken off in the end. Any critiques are welcome.
  2. Becuase of the way the lights were placed the render took only six minutes at this res on a 2.4 ghz pc with no graphics exelleration that I no of. I was very pleased with this. No its on the ground. But as I have seen from examples of alot of other programs plus a:m is that z-buffered shadows tend to make this artifact. In this picture it turned alot better than in other attempts. Some times this happens even if the mesh is physically inside of the other object. I think it comes map resolution or something. Does anyone have any tips? Yes, I know its kind of funny that we would be using computers to depict our own slavery. I haven't had the problem that you are having KenH. But I did have some problems around the edges of the windows. to fix this I lowered the brightness. Yours maybe a combo of that and something obstructing the path of light in the light fixture. But I don't know for sure. The real feel for this picture was not as hard as it looks. Each window has two lights. The Kleig behind the window and a bulb where it strikes the floor. The Klieg is about 100% and the bulb is about 30%. This gives the illusion of radial reflection. But I think it might loose some realizim if the scene were to be brighter. Thanqs for all of your comments. Its very incoraging. I'll try to send more posts on the rest of this theme. Also since you all have noticed my real name on the posts I would like to make a public clearification. My a ccount is not under NickHutson because I suffer from multiple personality disorter. Nick Hutson is the name of a comic book character I was working on. I put my real name up for the sake of some who were looking into a portfolio of mine so they would know what pictures I've made on this forum. Please dont think I crazy. Even though I can be some times.
  3. Here are some of the improvements ya'all suggested. Sorry I've been too busy with other things to carry them out to the letter or to paste the model on turbo squid. Also the 25 light rig works much better (Of course. Doy! ). Though the multi pass adds more time to the render (about two hours more). Anyway enough rambling.
  4. Already did. It had a big gorilla sitting on it amidst a factory. Why 136 lights? Cause I'm CRAAAAAAAAZYYYYYYYY!
  5. WoooHooo! Pump'in out the render of this one object took almost 2 hrs on a 2.5 ghz processer. But that probably has something to do with the 136 light skydome hanging over top (Thank you Yves). This one took me about 12 hrs to model, which I'm happy with. This model will soon be available at www.TurboSquid.com for sale. Enjoy
  6. Very nice. The only two things I would recommend are less rings in the paint. Real paint is far too thick to make that many rings. So you might want to go for just one or two smaller ones and a higher spike in the middle to make it look like thick goop. Second, you might want to add more form to the hairs on the brush to make them more believable. But other than that nice work!
  7. This is som'thin i've been working on for the past few days (11 hours in fact) from scratch to final render. The lighting came together pretty quick too. The main thought behind it is that the more technology progresses the more popple become trapped in an in-escapable cage. This picture was meant to depict the vast empty feeling one should get when faced with the slavery of technology. But other than that it was done for fun. See in it what you want. And if Far Star sees this, I would like to enter this into a portfolio to show my lighting and camera skills. If you need someone else on the team that is. There's still more to come on this theme too.
  8. From the picture it looks awsome. But I can't seem to get the teaser, my browser just says that the requested site cannot be found. What's wrong? Anyway, I would really like to see what the projects all about because I'm really interested about becoming a part of the team.
  9. Hey Jamagica, Do you use that program by klick team called "Jamagic"? Just wondering about the name.
  10. Maybe this example does'nt show properly what I'm talking about. I put some bricks on the side of a building. When it was up close it was fine, and I'm talking really up close. Then when I backed out the bricks could hardly be recognized as bricks. I'm not thinking it's the program. I think it just might be certain settings the new version might reqiure that my computer is not set up for. Anyone else having this problem?
  11. Also a back view, only taken so close to show the detail of the pockets (You sick'o's). This view also shows a problem I've been having with the textures. Close up the textures are all clear and crystal (exept for the tiling problem here, and this is half in, half out.) and when I zoom out I loose the detail and the texture becomes all fuzzy and blurred. I've tried it on two computers and still the same thing. Do I have a texture setting wrong? Anyway here it is:
  12. Here' a front view of the progress made thus far. Facial map, which is ever so subtle, a facial bump that includes forehead creases (barely under cap), lip cracks and skin bumps and a specularity map that shines the nose and lips. Also there's been a "M" added fabric stitching and a label on the buttons.
  13. Your wish is my command. It just might take a little while.
  14. Well if your gonna be all like that about it. Anyone Else?
  15. Yoshi?! Them's fight'n words. Have you forgot about poor little 6.5 foot Luigi who's been busting his butt for years on end to save Mario BROS. from becoming an all full on suck fest.
  16. Here's the wire. The dips and holes I gather are from the porcelin material being used in fast render mode.
  17. And oh yeah. Does anyone know if Gimp would be a good compremise if you don't have Photoshop and your following Jim's tut?
