  1. I think you mustang looks great, but how is crimebomb going to fit in the engine compartment? I'm not sure what video compression you use, but it is hard to really appreciate your work with all the compression artifacts. Just for fun, could you post an image of the car before distortion?
  2. My PC runs at 3.2 Ghz. I tried a render on my G4/400 and it took 2:48. I bet you can guess which one I use A:M on. I'm glad you find my tree interesting. I suspect you use interesting the same way we try to get our kids to say "interesting", instead of YUK, when they see food they don't like the look of. I may play with it a bit to see if I can make it less "interesting".
  3. mtpeak2's v 11 pine tree looks good. I made this in v10.5 using an early version of Treez and hair. I think with some work it could look ok, and less like a bottle brush tree. It renders in 27s on my PC and I'm guessing about 3.5 minutes on my G4/400.
  4. Hey Dude. I can deal with the animated giffs by clicking and holding on the scroll bar, but your site crashed my browser. How about a direct link to your trailer if yo have one.
  5. Nice model. It looks like it has a bit of the Enterprise in it.
  6. I just tried Pauls jpg image for the bump and it worked fine.
  7. Hi Paul. The area you are applying the bump map to is pretty small to show much detail, but try "bumping" up the % value to get more bump. If your starting at 100%, try 200 and keep going until it's too much. Good luck.
  8. Thanks for the comments, every bit is helpful. The water is one of the things I want to work on. I'd like to make it a pond with some wash and splash. Slowing down as he enters the water would add a good bit of realism. Sound is also a good idea, I just need some music to go splat by. I also want to work on the setting a bit and add soem treez and hills, and a warning sign with a double black diamond. Any other idaes?
  9. Looking good William. I'm going to have to keep an eye on this.
  10. I wanted to try out Emilio's sweeper plugin and one thing led to another... Thom is so willing. I had fun doing this and would like to polish it up, so any suggestions are welcome. I use the On2 codec as usual. Thom goes rolerblading!
  11. I started modelling this head in wings, so I could block out the main shapes, then put in A:M. It still took me quite a while to get this far, but It was faster and turned out better than starting in A:M. I'm not very good at heads. Feel free to make comments. The eyes are somewhat anime, and I need to do more around the nose, as well as endless smoothing.
  12. Thanks for the comments, I find them all very helpful. As we all know, after looking at our own work day after day, it really helps to have some outside input. Yes it is a bit soppy. It was orriginally going to be about a school aged girl who draws to cheer herself up. That's why the room is kid's colours. Also I wanted to express the power that, kids have to enter there imaginary worlds. I changed it after I found the music. I liked the song, and it has a good beat to animate to, so I wanted the story to fit the song. I didn't spend a lot of time on modelling, texturing, lighting, etc, because I wanted the project to flow quickly, so I'd get it done, and my goal was to tell the story and not spend a lot of time up front. I would like to polish it, and add some to the end. The rider is the girl, she is drawing herself on a horse. I planned to have the horse and rider shift to colour, opposite the her and her boyfreind fading to black and white, but I liked the look of the line horse walking away I left it that way. In the expanded version the horse and rider will disolve into a colour scene, but that will come later. I am quite happy how the transition from drawing to animation worked. This part was the main theme of the project, showing how we can use our imagination to create our world. It was also the part I was least sure how to do when I started. it turned out to be quite easy, after a great suggestion from Iham Wrong.
  13. Nice work, I'm looking forward to seeing the finished peice.
  14. Hi gang. I finally have a showable version of my first music video for crit. This is the project that led me to A:M 3 years ago. After 2 starts, 1: in Strata and Poser, 2: in A:M 9.5 (enough said about that), and now in A:M 10.5. Even though it is quite rough, I am quite happy how it turned out. I would love to hear what you like and don't like, and don't worry, I'm not easily offended. I made it as small as possible 5.4 megs for 1.5 minutes using the On2 codec. If you have trouble veiwing it, please let me know. I can post a Sorrenson 3 version, but for similar quality it comes in at 8.8 meg. Here it is Just My Imagination
  15. I'm looking forward to the tutorial.
  16. I'm working on a QT virtual river tour that will be part of a world wide river resource website. The idea is to document your river any way you like, using QTVR. I chose the Capilano River in North Vancouver, Canada. I'm posting this here, for crits, because I have'nt yet found a good place to get crits from the VR folks. It may be inapropriate to post this here, but you people are so good about giving crits, I thought I'd give it a try. I want this to look pollished and proffesional. I would appreciate any comments you might have. Here is the link. to the tour. I did use A:M for making the map. I modelled over a DEM and added texture. If you are curious about the river project, it is here. It hasn't been publicaly launched yet, but there is a description of the project there. mouthtosource river project.
  17. Thanks for checking guys. Sorry about your pants Vernon. It looks like it was a weird thing on a couple of Macs runnnig OSX.
  18. I just had someone tell me they can't see the cubic. They use a Mac OS 10.3. Is anyone else having truoble veiwing it? I'd really like to know because the VR tour is linked to the site that runs the garden, and I don't want there visitors having trouble. Thanks
  19. Hi. I got this software called VRHotwire that lets you add tracks to QT panos and cubics. It' like Livestage, I think , but cheaper and rougher around the edges. I made a virtual tour with a QT cubic as the main node. I added a sound track and a small animation done in A:M. Comments welcome. Look down to see the animation. Cubic I'd love to hear from someone with Livestage on how it is adding this kind of stuff, and if there is a way to minimze the speed loss when adding animations to cubics.
  20. Time for an update. I replaced the eyes and remodeled the mouth going for more of the bug's life look. I made him orange, to show off his blue eyes, and fixed his walk. I think it's a big improvement. What do you think? I also added a facial exression test at the end. bug movie 02 It bothers me that I can't get his face very smoothe, but I've never been good at that.
  21. I haven't used Treez much, but after putting the plugin in the hxt file you need to restart A:M. Then make the base shape and name it base, and make the canopy shape. Now open an action and with nothing selected, right click to get the plugins/wizards/treez. Good luck.
  22. Thanks. This is all usefull information. I'm working on the changes and hope to have something to show soon.
