1. I really like the way this looks. I'm hoping that we'll get to see a small snippet of animation next, even if it just a walk cycle.
2. That first image you posted is amazing. I've been trying to get renders like that for the office set for the short I'm working on, but nothing anywhere near the results you are getting. I'm looking forward to your tutorial when it is done. 31 hours for the render. Seems to make it unusable for animation (but I'm gonna try, dammit!) Oh, the questions I would have are: 1. I'm assuming you are using bulb lights, correct? 2. Is this done using the 10.5o release or the Alpha 11 release?
3. Well, I have finally gotten around to creating a web page for the short I'm working on. It's not really up yet, just a 'Coming Soon!' image. I hope to have some pages up by the beginning of January. Anyhow, the link is: http://www.tartpi.com When I get some pages up, I hope you all will let me know what you think.
4. I like the costume designs. But I'm more partial to the hooded costume over the one with exposed hair.
5. What?!? Apple's not going to continue on with widescreen monitors?!? To add the the internal spline problem you are going to have, the monitor also seems highly spline heavy. I think you could make the monitor with less than half the splines you have now.

12 -

Looks good. Somewhat of a meloncholic image in my opinion. The lighting and the rim around the base of the head making a frown at the angle the head is tilted give me that impression. The mood makes me want to see the angel just a bit dinged up. Also, is it holding a candle, and will it be lit? Looking forward to seeing where you take it.
7. The park looks really good. The depth of field adds alot. I hope skycast will be available to Mac users soon.
8. Oops. Double post.
9. Mega, once I have the opportunity, I'll write up a quick and dirty tutorial on what I did. and make it available to download as a .pdf. I just need to find the time to actually work on it. Hopefully before Thanksgiving.
10. So are we going to see the director's cut that has the alternate ending? Good job.
11. That's okay, because it still wasn't what I used to make the curves. I would say it would probably be very similiar, but more of the non-automated aspect. I probably manually did what the Extruder would have done automatically.
12. I used another method. Path extrude? Am I not using another feature to make my modeling easier, kinda like the duplication wizard?
13. So, here is a comparison of the original and the modified. I also made them taller, not that you can tell from the image.
14. Hmmm, I'll try a version without the curls exting beyond the feet of the thing. Actually, I've seen a coat rack that had feet like the one on mine (though I think I made my feet a bit large), in prop & set storage for the theatre where I went to college. If I managed to wander to close to it though, I had a tendancy to always get my foot caught in one of the curls. The thing was made of oak and steel and was heftier and heavier than the version I modeled here. Once I get a rework of the coat rack, I'll post it here.
15. It looks like a squirrel, though I'd make the tail a little bushier and longer. A squirrels tail is typically at least the same length as the body or longer. Looks really, really good.
16. Well, I had a moment to sit and work on another set piece for my animation. It is, as the subject indicates, a coat rack (or hat rack if you prefer). The textures are not final. I just threw them on there. Comments, questions and general observations about life are welcome.
17. Nice. I've read a few of the Tintin comics, but had difficulty finding them when I was younger. Oddly enough though, when I lived in Germany back in the late 70's I had no trouble finding British Editions of Asterix, but could only find Tintin in French and German. Anyhow, the cover of that Tintin comic would be interesting to replicate in A:M. And, uh, Ken, when I first read what you wrote I thought it said '... space for the Captain's crotch?' Man, I need to get my eyes checked.
18. Nice design. It reminds of something I would see in Tintin or something else of that nature. I'd like to see what it looks like once you will add a hatch and some windows. Personally, I would change the landing 'struts' so that they end in rounded points. Good job so far. Could you post a wireframe?
19. So, when can we expect the next installment?
20. I'd have to agree that some blurring and distortion would help the hyperspace effect, but leave the ship pretty much sharp and in focus. I'm not certain what to think of the starfield background though. In a way, I don't care for it too much, but I can't think of an alternative.
21. I really enjoyed this. My only complaint is that the pacing is just a tad slow, but it's still great none-the-less. Are there going to more? It seems to be a set-up for a continuing chain of stories. A question though. Was the look achieved by using Toon shading or did you use decals from watercolors or a combination of both? Again, it's a great piece and I really hope you do make more. I hope you do get the music though.
22. Okay here is the image without the 20000 Watt fill shining in the room.
23. Well, this particular lit version is just so I can see how things are situated in the office. I have a light just above the camera that fills the scene, so this is not how the set will actual be lit. It'll be darker. I'm rendering a shot of the office without the 'fill' light as I type this and hopefully will have it up for critiques later in the day (Geez, it's almost 2AM. I hate working closing shifts.). And yes, that shot is brighter than I intended it to be, but I think it's because of me accidentally turning on radiosity and getting that wierd but interesting 'mirror-ball' effect. The same image without radiosity is slightly less bright. Oops! I accidentally originally sent this post as a report.
24. Um, your link just brings you back to your forum post.
25. Well, turn down the brightness on your monitor! But seriously, I do have my monitor set up so it closely resembles what the images look like when they come out of my printer, which has my monitor running a bit dark. I've had a few people tell me that my images are a tad bright. Which, in the long run, may be better, since the office will actually be rather dark in the actual animation. Though things I've put to video and watched on my TV don't seem to be much brighter than it is on my monitor. Another interesting factor I've noticed is that it's mainly my friends on PC's that say the images are too bright and not so from my friends on Macs. This may need further investigation.
