  1. I do it that way also. But, again, to no avail sometimes.
  2. No, that is not always the case. See screen shot.
  3. Why is it that sometimes when I turn on the handles and select a CP with splines, they (the handles) do not show up? Thanks.
  4. Thank you. That was very instructive.
  5. What is the difference between "child of" and "attach to parent" for a bone?
  6. Is the Kinematic chain done in the bone mode or in the choreography? Is there a "trick" to finding an "unattached CP" because I seem to have one (or more) somewhere in the model.
  7. Presumably the do - sort of like chicken feet. But at my stage of expertise, maybe I should just deal with the obvious and leave the nuances alone.
  8. This is my rigging. I did roll my own. All the parts of the model are separate. The only thing holding them together is the bones. Is there more I have to - constraints etc. - to make sure my model holds together? Thanks.
  9. I have finished roughing out the bottom portion of my BattleMech and now I want to start adding bones. I believe I should start in the middle portion of the "lower body." Should the "root" bone be perpendicular from a line drawn between the centers of rotation for the two legs? Do I need to add another bone pointing down? From the first (or root) bone I believe that I should draw bones out to the leg joints. Then down each leg, then through the foot pedestal and out to each "claw." All bones should be children of the previous bone - except of course the two in the pelvic region. Here is my model. legs0.tga Thanks.
  10. Can two 5 point patches share some of the same CPs?
  11. I am using version 16rc1 on a Mac with OS 10.6.5
  12. In the customize window, all the selections (tool bars, etc) remain until changed except for the scheme. If I want to change it to something else (I quite like the Bordeaux) I have to do it every time I open a project. Is this the way it is designed?
  13. As I am very familiar with the permissions issue in OSX, I always make sure that "everyone" has read/write permission to the A:M folder. Everything was working fine with 16rc1 until the 29th when my subscription ran out (which A:M told me.) That was when I followed the posted instructions and deleted the license file. I think that maybe it is because 16 is not a released version yet. I still wonder why you have to write back to the A:M folder and not to the users (or system) preferences file?
  14. I was able to solve my own problem by re-loading version 15 and entering my new license number. Then I copied the Master0.lic file to the version 16 folder.
  15. Thanks Robcat2075. That was a very instructive video. And thanks to others that answered my questions.
  16. I have seen the term 'Euler' before - what exactly is 'a Euler?'
  17. I followed the instructions - and this is what happens. I think this may be happening because there IS NO master0.lic file - because I deleted it. I checked. I am using version 16.rc1. How long is my code good for?
  18. But that was what I thought Actions were for - to handle repeating actions. I was hoping in the future, when I became more knowledgeable about A:M to figure out some way to randomize the swelling.
  19. Still doesn't do what I want. The action (swivel right 90 degrees) always starts from a forward facing position.
  20. Think of the turret on top of a tank body. It can swivel 260 degrees. It can stop and start again from the same place it stopped. It can go left or right.
  21. I have created an action that rotates an object 90 degrees. The problem is that it always starts from the zero azimuth If it is not a too advanced subject is there any to have the start of the action to be from where the front of the action is facing? Then, I could rotate the object 90 degrees from there.
  22. Please help refresh my memory - since I am just learning A:M - is it possible to draw a bounding box around (with the Right Mouse Button) in the Choreography window same as in the Model window?
