  1. Any word on if the Adobe Illustrator plug-in will be upgraded to handle the CS format?
  2. Not to start a flame war, or anything like that, but will Stephen be able to do a Mac version of v17? I know he had some issues with the last version of Xcode, but with the release of the 4.2.1 is everything ok?
  3. A:M on OSX has always had a permissions problem. Why? I don't know. After installing Get Info on the A:M folder - set Permissions on "everyone" to "read & write" and make applicable to all contents.
  4. Ah, I haven't quite solved the problem yet as these render can attest. The first couple of times it worked but it did not look exactly right so I tried moving the light, stripping the wave generators down to one and placing it in the middle, I even played with the gamma, but only when I scrub the output in Quicktime can I barely see the waves. leaves1.mov leaves3.mov leaves4.mov leaves5.mov
  5. If you read the article it sounds like everything should have a gamma of 2.2 - even Macs.
  6. So, you say it is "mostly harmless" God Bless Douglas Adams (wherever he may be)
  7. Ah, I might have to chalk this up to "Newbee" error. I wasn't rendering the frame or frames out, I was just looking at it in the chor window and moving the slider back and forth.
  8. You are correct. In the brighter left-hand side I see the waves on the outside of the backing, against the blue. In the darker right-hand I also see the waves, but this time over the leaves. What is gamma?
  9. Yes, I definitely see the waves in the left-hand picture.
  10. Nancy I am sorry but I still don't see it. I downloaded the project file I uploaded earlier and made the changes you directed. But I still don't see the waves. I am uploaded the file again. Please compare it to yours and see if you can find any difference. Thanks. Water_Bagain.prj
  11. I think it is either Propagate or Cycle (or both.) Amplitude controls how big (high) the waves are and Length is distance between waves.
  12. I checked the CD - here is the image. Leaves.tga TTFN
  13. Supposedly the image is in the project itself. That is where I found them. Here I embedded everything and saved the project. Water_B.prj
  14. Sure, here are the instructions I am following: Clear_Water.pdf Hope they help.
  15. but I can't get it to look like the water is rippling over the leaves. Here is the project. I hope someone can help. Water_B.prj
  16. Sorry you are correct 192.168.1.5. Fumble-fingers me. I can't change the static IP address now because that is the address that NetRender is looking for. When 16a comes out I can go back to dynamic because a static address will not matter.
  17. To all thanks. I have assigned a static IP address to my Mac Pro because my Netgear router was assigning random IP addresses whenever I powered up cold or from sleep. It was causing havoc with Netrender. I figured out what was happening and reported it to Steffen with bug report 5902. He has fixed the problem so I guess that Netrender will check first for an IP address before setting up the Slave.dat file. I have VMware on my system because I bought it on sale. I don't have a guest system running on it yet. Thanks for explaining where the two "extra" IP addresses came from. The 198.162.1.5 is my Mac Pro static address.
  18. Mouseman, that command works just fine in Terminal. o0: flags=8049 mtu 16384 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 gif0: flags=8010 mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0 mtu 1280 en0: flags=8863 mtu 1500 ether 00:23:df:de:e3:bd inet6 fe80::223:dfff:fede:e3bd%en0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x4 inet 192.168.1.5 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 media: autoselect (100baseTX ) status: active en1: flags=8863 mtu 1500 ether 00:23:df:de:af:26 media: autoselect () status: inactive fw0: flags=8863 mtu 4078 lladdr 00:23:df:ff:fe:da:9f:86 media: autoselect status: inactive vmnet1: flags=8863 mtu 1500 ether 00:50:56:c0:00:01 inet 192.168.144.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.144.255 vmnet8: flags=8863 mtu 1500 ether 00:50:56:c0:00:08 inet 172.16.58.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 172.16.58.255 What all this means I don't know.

I too was surprised when I saw that only Steffen was maintaining the code. What has happened to Hash, Inc. Where is Martin, Ken Bear, Steve Sappington, or WillP??? For that matter, where is TinCan and some of the other older posters? If this is an "off-topic" subject then please move it.
  20. Thanks. Have you experienced any issues with Net Render. See http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40040
  21. Here is a screen shot of "About Render Server" It shows that I can have up to four slaves. What has me baffled are the three IP addresses listed. I think the last two are related to my machine but the first one -- Whois or Lookup does not show anything meaningful.
  22. Has this information been posted anywhere?
  23. I find I can do two different renderings with two slaves in each Pool COOL!
  24. I modified the AppleScript (currently would only start 2 message servers.) Even though I set it up to start 8 messengers (I have 8 cores physical - 16 virtual) I got a message after 4. If we can get a modified license so so that we can run 8 (or 16) I would go for that.
  25. I've been toying with this and find that I can use that last core if I go to the Windows Task Manager and set one RenderSlave's "Priority" to "Below Normal". That gives some breathing room for anything else the OS needs to do in the meantime, which won't be much if I'm otherwise away from the computer. For some reason my all-four-core renders were faster than my three core renders. I don't know why. Very cool! You need to post us a screencapture of that 60-CPU list in Render Server when you get that set up. Robert, do you have a special license? My understanding is that only TWO render servers are allowed?
