  1. Thats nice! Looks almost hand painted- and you reset the chessboard Chris
  2. Nice render! I think your models are a much higher res than the background, wich detracts a little, and the shadows thing Dhar mentioned, yes, but the big thing for me is youve set the board up wrong. THe queen should always be on her own colour I know its picky- seriously a nice bit of work there
  3. Very nice Frank. Nice facial features- very strong characters I look forward to the finished article and seeing the animation tests Chris
  4. Can't much fault you on the cup modeling. With the exception of maybe the winners name or maybee what its for thats a good model. Next time consider this:- When you have a shinny thing it reflects its surroundings. You can see this on the cup, where its reflecting the sides of the backdrop. But where the camers is.......is nothing. So you get a big black reflection down the front of it. You could put some fake scenery there, or a picture on a flat bit of scenery - or do some fancy stuff with images layering to improve your render. Chris
  5. You all could always come down to sunny Wales for an AM users weekend in the summer:) Chris
  6. Hi Marvin- Try for the fastest single chip if its for AM only- I don't think AM supports hyperthreading......yet My largest model files and chos were freezing up at 512 mb ram but now with 2Gb the turn like a dream I run on the main machine 2x7800 nvidia GFOrce GTX graphics cards which were at first giving me problems- I had a green blob and 2 parallel white vertical lines and a third horizontal one, but since installing newest drivers, this does'nt happen. Cant tell you about the difference in speed re AMD or Intel, but get the most RAM you can afford Microsoft Windows xp pro Version2 Intel pentium 4 1.79 384mb Ram on one machine Microsoft Windows xp Home Version2 Intel pentium 4 3.2 2GBb Ram on the other Chris
  7. Thats very good stuff Will, what size did you do the final render at? Was it for Publication? Whas the chrome done with an image?Whay am I asking all these questions?
  8. Swords good for a first try - but I love your avatar! Chris Swordfixin guy
  9. Also the music pages seem to be "floating" above the floor. If you look at the shadow underneath, the pages look way to thick. Try and think about the composition as well. There is a lot of empty "negative" space in the top left side, which accompanied by the position of the guitar neck and the heavy black border combine to drive the eye out of the picture. Standing it up in the corner and moving one of the pages into the foreground a little more would go a long way to alleviate this. Feel free to ignore this advice- its only an opinion Chris
  10. Julian Thanks for putting this out there. I don't understasnd the maths/javascript either, but I appreciate the effort you put in and shared
  11. Abject apologies to all people I anoyed/impressed with a complete and obvious fake. Obviously shouldn't have tried to fool you. Terra campester and all that
  12. Not now I cant, no. I'me going to Holland in an hour and I havn't even packed. I wont be back till Wednesday. Plenty of time for me to reflect on my shortcomings. Nah, best thing I could do is hang my head in shame and trundle off to a life as a pig farmer or something. I still cant understand why they payed me for faking it though.....
  13. first off Ken This whole project was done months ago and:- I cont open the original render from cd The manufactureers cant send me a copy by email because their computer crashes Choreography I obviously have the cho file. But I made a rotating action to get the best shot of the contour fit system. After a few q renders I picked the right one and rendered that frame. Now I dont know wich one that is, and if I pick the wrong one, I am scr***d, because it wont match up. Model file Likewise the model file has changed as well, and I am unsure wich version I used- I have chsnged the original and now have a contour fit and non contour for both foil, and epee- with lots of corrections
  14. So is this where I hang my head in shame and disapear forever from this forum? So the consensus of opinion is that :- a) I am a complete wally I have made a model of a fencing mask(more than one) c) My modeling skills are improving d) The model I made couldnt possibly have been used to make that render
  15. There is a black rod that comes down and fits into the white material near the studs which you havn't modelled at all ??????? Sorry not with oyu there How did you create the complex light filtering down through the mesh and onto the lable? Straight scan of a label thats all Can you show us the bump map that you used to get the wobble on the black rod round the top. Yes Why does this head strap not go through the circular fixing on the back? The pose isnt on You claim that the image couldn't come from a photo because the helmet is too small but it isn't like people don't make a living from portrait photography is it? Not at all -I said that I started doing this for them because the bits were too small. The whole thing has just got biggger is all

  17. There is clearly some soft reflection (of the mask) on the ones on the advert Not reflection- there was a gap around the base of the rivets that was covered over on one side in photopaint "use far more than a little layer to get the overall lighting effect" Yes a skydome with this image(actualy on both fron and back
  18. model view of label Decals used Label text Cloth material label stitching label feathering I used an edge feathering technique to give the appearance of threads
  19. texture decal of backstrap- note white flecks
  20. Thanks Vern, Peeps be patient First off original render is to large to put up, its 5.67 mb will post somehow though] Chris
