chris Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Well I thought I would post a few screen renders of the squid I made for the TSM contest (I had the modelling complete but did not enter because I hadn't textured it.) Here are some pics of the untextured model. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Hey, Chris, that looks like a really good model. You should have entered it anyway but then again you would probably have knocked mine out of the running. Why not use it now that you've put all that energy into creating it. The current A:M Still Image Contest is on the Fantasy/Sci-Fi theme and you could probably do something with him. I haven't checked the deadline though. Well done anyway. Quote
Paul Forwood Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Oops. That deadline passed on the 1st. Quote
chris Posted August 4, 2004 Author Posted August 4, 2004 Thanks Paul! Thanks for the idea to enter it into the A:M image contest, ya it is to bad it ended August 1st. Oh well, eventually I'll figure out how to been deadlines. I appreciate the supportive words though. Congratulations on your win. Nicely modeled. Quote
3DArtZ Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Good job!!!! Ofcourse we'd love to see more so, you can upload the wireframeimage whenever you get around to it!!!! Nice work Mike Fitz www.3dartz.com Quote
filipmun Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 I like to see this one finished, are you going to put in the suckers? Quote
stephen Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 You could try sending Steve Sappington an email to ask if it's alright if you enter the competition a few days late. I think people have done that in the past. It doesn't hurt to ask... Quote
stephen Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 Oh, wait, nevermind. Steve just announced the voting for the contest. Sorry Quote
chris Posted August 5, 2004 Author Posted August 5, 2004 Well, Mike was asking about a wireframe image, so here they are. Oh, and Philip, actually I did make a "sucker" version but it nearly tripled the patch count on my model to only have suckers going half down each tenticle (I was going to bumpmap the rest in). I think I may still try a version with suckers but I'm gonna have to come up with a less spline heavy version that I'm happy with, each sucker had 16 patches, I could do with a 12 patch version perhaps but that still really adds up. (12 patches x 42 suckers x 10 tenticles = 5040 patches!!!) My Model is currently below 3000 patches. Quote
sonofpat Posted August 5, 2004 Posted August 5, 2004 Excellent modelling but you can work on the eyes to make them look evil even if it is unshaded. Luv Patos Quote
