mediaho Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Excellent work, Zack! Great job with the model and documenting the process. Quote
Admin Rodney Posted August 6, 2004 Admin Posted August 6, 2004 Looks Great! Two questions/critiques The shadows You look like you still are experimenting with the shadows. The darker ones look too stark to my eye. I like the soft shadow from the first multi-strat picture. Does the render time take a significant hit to get the softer ones? The floor Still not sure if you've replaced the solid plane with individual 'boards'. I think such subtleties will add a lot to the over all scene. If you do have individual 'boards' perhaps adding a slight bevel to the edges will make it more realistic. As it stands today the boards look like they are painted onto the floor. Amazing detail you got there as it is though! 'Tis hardly my place to critique. Quote
ztguest Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 The shadows You look like you still are experimenting with the shadows. The darker ones look too stark to my eye. I like the soft shadow from the first multi-strat picture. Does the render time take a significant hit to get the softer ones? Yep, still experimenting. Mainly I'm dealing with contrary opinions (I'm looking at you Parlo and Taco!). Still not sure if you've replaced the solid plane with individual 'boards'. I think such subtleties will add a lot to the over all scene. Ive got an explanation that the guys on #cgtalk came up with. These people have the cheap waxed on floor. See! 'Tis hardly my place to critique. Why? Are you missing eyeballs? zack (under another screen name I made for friends...) Quote
zacktaich Posted August 8, 2004 Author Posted August 8, 2004 Thanks Zach! I'm rendering right now... Quote
zacktaich Posted August 9, 2004 Author Posted August 9, 2004 I tried going back to ray-traced shadows, mainly because Wegg hates Z-buffered. I'm working on finding out how to have raytraced shadows that are soft. Quote
mooncaine Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 I don't know about the shadows debate -- my ignorance is blissful, for the time being. Anyway, just wanted to add: don't forget the pickup selector switch... Quote
John Bigboote Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 Hey Headless Bill---NICE Hollowbody! I'd pick it up and strum some Steve Earle chords...but I got blisstas on me fingas! Zach- That Strat is looking 'muy bien0' 2! check the spacing on those knobs though... are they equa-distant? I've got an idea for you...once your done and want to devote MORE time to this...change the 'look' of this pristine 'Eric Clapton' black beauty to a 'beat-to-hell' StevieRayVaughan #1 strat... I would LOVE to see that, and would pay for the file. If you don't know of SRV or the #1 let me know and I'll send along some pix! Cudos on the imageros! Quote
zacktaich Posted October 1, 2004 Author Posted October 1, 2004 Well, might as well post the final image here. Quote
Godfrey Posted October 1, 2004 Posted October 1, 2004 Nice! But now the red one needs a pickup switch. That's an interesting way of "signing" the image! But I notice that it appears to be lit by a different source than the rest of the objects. Quote
zacktaich Posted October 1, 2004 Author Posted October 1, 2004 yeah, it's not a part of the scene, it's just a watermark.. I've probably got a non watermarked version somewhere... Quote
ddustin Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Zach, Excellent work. My son has a black one just like it. d Quote
zacktaich Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 Thanks. Wow this thread came back out of no where! Quote
