Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted November 26, 2022 Hash Fellow Posted November 26, 2022 You've probably heard of the super-quiet rooms that are built to test audio factors... the anechoic chambers... so quiet that mere minutes inside will drive one to madness... Quote ...Much of the lore about the chamber’s propensity for mind-annihilation centers on the concept of blood sounds... Hearing the movement of blood through the body is supposedly something like an absolute taboo, akin to witnessing the fabrication of Chicken McNuggets — an ordeal after which placid existence is irreparably shattered. An NYT reporter has risked her sanity to bring you the sound facts, on the record... Could I Survive the ‘Quietest Place on Earth’? Quote
*A:M User* Roger Posted January 5, 2023 *A:M User* Posted January 5, 2023 Supposedly that is the attraction behind sensory deprivation chambers. Your mind can't handle being cut off from sensory input, so it starts generating auditory and visual hallucinations. For a short period of time I imagine you get some trippy effects, probably the reason people would consider doing such a thing. But multiple hours or days of something like that, you'd probably go nuts. Quote
