rustywriter
Hello, Does anyone know of any tutorials on particle smoke and/or fire? Thanks! Rusty
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 4, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 4, 2020 You've done the one in TAoA:M already, right? Can you tell us more about what you are specifically trying to do?
rustywriter
Hi Rob! Fire and smoke...as realistic as possible. As I recall A:M does it pretty good. TaOam? Oh, The Art... I have that book somewhere. No video tuts (my eyes aren't that good anymore, LOL)? Thanks, Rusty PS: I'm going through old A:M tutorials I have on disk and CD...might get lucky. Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 4, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 4, 2020 Much depends on the scale of the scene. Do you have a sketch of what your scene will look like?
rustywriter
Nah. Just trying to make smoke and fire against a transparent background I can drop into any scene. Tried in AE but can't get anything as real what A;M can do. I have videos....no tutorials but videos and project files... hard to pour over at times. Rusty PS: My experiment with sprites just fell downward, LOL. Needs work!
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 4, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 4, 2020 Quote drop into any scene. That's what doesn't work. It needs to be tailored for the scene. Show me what the scene looks like.
rustywriter
No scene in mind. Just toying around. Rusty
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 4, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 4, 2020 OK. Try the tut in TAoA:M first. You can get a PDF of it on this page... https://www.hash.com/manuals-24-en Then when you have questions after that, ask here.

Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted February 4, 2020 Hash Fellow Share Posted February 4, 2020 Rusty, I think the AE smoke is about as good as you'll get without some higher end particle engine. The fire isn't what I would have guessed you were looking for from your description. That' looks more like a laser beam. Surely that must have a preset that looks more like fire.
