a.quaihoi
Okey Doeky, went and got myself a Radeon HD 6850 3D card for mac and swapped it with the quadro that was in there, now AM is behaving good, except the last project I was working on is crashing on opening, there is a model in there which I did not save out, I think because I had the project setup with 4 windows for the views, AM boots, loads the files, then draws the windows and crashes . . . is there a way to reset this on the project file to one window or extract the model file ? . . . next step . . . install windows
Fuchur
Hi, here are just a few thoughts on that problem from me: First you need to make sure, that it is not A:M itself, that is causing this. Just start A:M without the file first... does that work? If not, please try this: 1.) Have a look into your A:M installation folder. 2.) Search for "master0.mac" or "master.mac". 3.) Rename that file to "master.mac_bak". 4.) Try to start A:M again. If it starts fine without the file, the problem is the file. It may be that the file itself is corrupt. But you may be able to get some models, etc. out there: 1.) First of, make a copy of the file! (backup it manually by coping the file in the file browser/finder/explorer) 2.) Open the file in a text-editor (notepad/editor would it be on windows, but it really does not matter much...) 3.) Have a look at it... does it look "complete" at the end of the file? (you will see several entries if it is complete, otherwise the file is corrupt) 4.) You should be able to extract the models for instance from this file if they are still available in the file. Saving a model from a corrupt project-file: 1.) To do that, just create a new project file in A:M, create a new (empty) model in it and add one spline to it. 2.) Save it and open it in a text editor now. 3.) Search for the model in there and replace the model in the file with the part from the other file which matches that... I hope you can understand what I've tried to explain... if you are used to HTML or XML languages, it should be readable. If you are not, you may want to upload that corrupt file here, so we can have a look at that. See you *Fuchur*
a.quaihoi
Yes understand, but I have got Dylan to export the model and also did some testing in the process on Mac side of things. . . nothing is working properly at the moment . . . I am thinking I will revert back to AM 2013 as dylan thinks thats the most stable version for production - on windows through boot camp on mac
a.quaihoi
https://youtu.be/pwoYKp1a8os this is what its doing . . . needs to be fixed ! With all due respect Fuchur, this is quite ridiculous for the app to behave this way on mac - granted there is only one developer / engineer developing the mac version, it is very frustrating not being able to do work because of these issues, we cannot use this for production work on Mac OS, the issues is even more unstable with AMD/ATI card than it was on the Nvidia card, I'll try both cards on windows 7 through boot camp and see what results I get - the mac version is a afterthought at best, looks like I will have to build a PC up again just for AM, such a great app it is but I cant use it to any potential on the Os I love and do 90% of my work on
Fuchur
That indeed looks very unstable but too me it seems to be always the same bug. I'll ask Steffen about it. That is not even close too the experience I have on my pc. We'll see what he can say about it and if he has a tipp about what to do. Just a question: Did you full uninstall the nvidia drivers before using the amd once? On windows it is even wise to use a tool tto get rid of everything installed by the other manufacturer before installing the new drivers because otherwise it is really very unstable. I'm not a mac guy but if that could be a thing it may make it better. *Fuchur*
pixelplucker
Before my sub ran out I tried to run AM via remote desktop on my laptop and got an ogl error with version 3. I think there is a bug with ogl 3 in AM. Granted the video is a built in intel 520 but I have other programs that handle the same version of ogl and higher versions of ogl and they run flawlessly on the intel video, just a little chunky but no render errors at all. Maybe the version implemented into AM had a bad distribution?
a.quaihoi
yes, un installed all the drivers, now when I go into preferences I get corrupted code in the settings some times, yes I will run AM in windows / bootcamp and I am seriously considering building another PC up so it can be just the AM machine and run 2013 version for main work and play with the new versions as they happen
