Start Action NOT at the start of a Choreography

Hi,

1. I made a simple 'box model', added lib poses and stored it out.

2. Created a small audio clip, added dope sheet and the 'lips' seemed OK, so stored that out as an action. Presuming that is the right way to store a re-usable voice audio?

3. New project, imported 'box model', imported action. New choreography and added the box to the chor.

4. Moved to 5 seconds on the timeline and then dragged the voice action to the box in the choreography. It actually has installed itself at the beginning of the choreography.

Question: Is it possible to add the audio action to start at 5 seconds rather than at frame 0?

Thanks,

Oliver

I'm no expert but, if I understand your question correctly (?)

If you import the audio clip into the choreography, by dropping it on the icon in the PWS, you can then either drag it along the timeline to the point were you want it to start.

Or,

select the clip in the PWS, and then set the parameters in the properties dialogue.

If you have done all the lip sync as an action (?)

You can drop the action on the model in a .cho, then set the parameters in the properties dialogue.

The usual way to do it ( I think ? ),

Is to make the lip shapes as a series of poses on the model,

Import the model into a choreography,

drop the audio into the .cho

then step through the timeline, adjusting the lip poses with the sliders, at the points needed.

Then, lots of test renders and adjusting until you get it to wher you want it...

Hi Oliver,

Yes, all we have to do is change the Start Time in the Properties of the Audio.

You may need to click on something else to get the screen to refresh and show the new/adjusted time.

Once the audio is in the Timeline it can be dragged left or right to the appropriate time as well.

Edit: LIke Simon Said. :)

Hi,

Thanks for all that info, and looking at the last post with screenshot - I seem to be missing something.

BACKGROUND AGAIN: I have the audio wrapped into an action that works the lid of the box as lips to 'speak'. Now all I want to do is bring that action into the chor and be able to position it anywhere without having to edit the start i.e. ideally being able to drag it along the timeline.

This is a screenshot of what I have

ActionInTimeline.jpg

I have the model 'BoxWithLid R06' and the action 'BOXER GoodMorning' imported into the project. The action has the audio and lip sync all packaged and working.

Then the model was dragged into the chor and the action dragged into the model. So far so good.

Now, I vaguely remember being able to drag along the timeline but for some reason that seems to have disappeared or I've lost something. The waveform has become like a watermark on the timeline and can't be dragged. I can change the start time of the action within it's Start Chor settings but would prefer to be able to drag it and see its position relative to other objects / actions in the choreography - I THINK I was able to do this before - or was it a different animation package?

Even if I select something like the Shortcut to Camera1 - that watermark remains on the timeline.

Guess I've lost the plot - again. Is there another format/option for the timeline to be able to show more?

Hi,

No, not really worked out a solution yet. Rodney's comment were 'on the ball' and I managed to get rid of the 'watermark', but I still have the original problem.

Where is the timeline that shows all the actions in a choreography so that I can move them relative to each other - I only seem to be able to get the timeline for each object (as in my previous images).
