Fuchur
I am not sure, but do we know that troll there at 0:13 (and several other shots in there)? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfvDsYCCww4 See you *Fuchur*
nemyax
It's the one that Legolas put down in Moria ("They have a cave troll" scene), isn't it?
detbear
I think Fuchur is refering to the A:M troll that came out a few years back with the cd. I don't think that's the one in the video, but it would've worked just as well.
nemyax
The one in the video is presumably the production Maya character, which someone on the crew took and had some fun with.
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted March 23, 2015 Hash Fellow Share Posted March 23, 2015 Our A:M troll was made by Ken Heslip. I don't know enough LOTR lore to know if that's what LOTR trolls typically "look" like although I think Ken made his before the Peter Jackson movies came out. detbear
A few years ago, I used the A:M troll to do a short test. Unfortunately, I buried this because because some of my collegues in animation gave it an unfavorable review. I spent a bunch of time matching the Hash shot with an animated VUE backdrop. I always liked the orange like tint. I had to reduce the quality by about 90% to get the file size low enough to post here. SO the details are not easy to see. And the colors are dulled somewhat in H.264 format. Anyway.... Wyboo_Troll_Jump_.mov Cheers, William
Hash Fellow robcat2075 Posted March 24, 2015 Hash Fellow Share Posted March 24, 2015 Good look! I'm guessing they didn't like that he landed so fast? That would be easy to fix.
Admin Rodney Posted March 25, 2015 Admin Share Posted March 25, 2015 I think Ken made his before the Peter Jackson movies came out. There were several characters modeled as the first LOTR movie was released. Ken Heslip created his Troll and Will Sutton created his Balrog based on the inspiration they saw therein. Nice test William. That faceless Troll is freakin me out. Of course that is the shade of a dozen or more character rigs released since your test to steer folks away from facial animation and concentrate on body mechanics.
